SMOOTH GLOBAL RHYTHMS!!!!!
I picked this one up in the local Be-Bop record store, hoping it wasn't full of latin music that irritates me on most chill out CDs...nothing wrong with latin, mind you...I just feel that it has it's place. SMOOTH GLOBAL RHYTHMS!!!!!, July 22, 2003
This review is from: Global Lounge (Audio CD)
I picked this one up in the local Be-Bop record store, hoping it wasn't full of latin music that irritates me on most chill out CDs...nothing wrong with latin, mind you...I just feel that it has it's place. Anyway, "Global Lounge," much like its companion disc, "Cafe Lounge," is chalked full of original and sophisticated gems that aren't readily found on those chill out CDs that are inundating the market these days. And though latin/salsa/cuban rhythms may come to mind at first glance of "Global Lounge," it is in fact much more than that, precisely mixing elements of house, ambient, dub, funk and downtempo beats with rich and beautiful female vocals. That aside, Global Lounge shines with unique chilled, tribal rhythms that are sure to entertain and relax you beyond belief. The opening "Magic Tribe" prefaces the rest of the CD and sets the mood for Global Lounge. From then on, it gets better and better with stellar songs from 2 Songs, Afterlife, BPM, Transit, Vertigo Deluxe, Sasha Lazard, Taste Experience, Bella Sonus (my favorite), Oktane, Phobos and an Ecclectic remake of the Karen Carpenter classic, "Rainy Days and Mondays" by Fac 15. Never heard of most of these artists or previous material by them (except for Afterlife and Phobos--pick up any "chill" CD and you'll find material from them), but Neurodisc has a winning formula with their "lounge" series... and if this is only an iota of what to expect from this record label, they're gonna make all those other chillout labels sound really bad.

Best so far!, November 29, 2005

Can't say enough about this CD. By chance, it was the first album I purchased when I started listening to the "chill out" sound. How lucky was I? The album is a continuous flow of hypnotic sounds that blend together so smoothly, you forget you're listening to different tracks. The female vocals are amazing. Tracks such as "Take Me Away" and "Eva and the Nightbus" still make my stomach hurt. Whether your new to the "chill out" sound or a seasoned veteran, this is a must own album. Grab your cocktail, dim the lights, and just enjoy.

That brings me to my second point, surley if this a truely "Global" experience, the music would be more varied and certainly very inspirational. Unfortunately it just doesn't quite deliver and offers a gentle ride which is really more of the same.

Fantastic Compilation, May 25, 2005
This review is from: Global Lounge (Audio CD)
This is one of the best electronica compilations in my collection, and certainly one of the most diverse. This is not a beat-mixed CD, so if you're expecting a continuous dance track, this isn't it--but the songs do flow together, overlapping nicely.
In addition to some great upbeat tracks such as In The Beginning and Awakening, there are some striking mellow grooves too. Take Me Away is beautiful, while Eva and the Night Bus tells us the story of young love backed with a gorgeous soundtrack. I wish I could find more stuff by Transit.
I've sampled through Volume Two a few times and just wasn't taken with it. I highly recommend this version volume to anyone who likes a good mix of electronica, both rhythmic and melodic.
