5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Perspective On World Music Phenomenon
The book is full of insight into "world music," which is mainly a marketing concept but also encompasses most of the world's popular music! This is an academic work that is also enjoyable to read and complements well those studies that focus on the artists and music, such as "World Music: The Rough Guide" and "The Brazilian Sound."
Published on April 20, 1999

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars Not that great.
8 Chapters each explaining the different musicians of different countries, their styles their tastes how they do it, etc. Relates to world globalization, politics, music, emotions, etc. I needed it for my mus class and well its pretty boring is what I would leave it at.
