Editorial Reviews

Review

"Clinton leaves it up to the reader to imagine the story behind the image. And so we do--and in doing so, we imagine adventures we might someday take, as well." --Christina Erb, The Globalist

From the Publisher

Michael Clinton's intense life-long desire to explore the world has led him to 120 countries and every continent on the globe with his camera in tow. His breathtaking photographs serve as a visual travel diary. Clinton's travels have brought him face-to-face with the most diverse peoples, spectacular cities, breathtaking landscapes, and exotic wildlife on the planet, allowing him to take spectacular photos of his experiences. Global Remains is the third and final volume in his acclaimed "global" series, featuring the design and architectural vestiges that make each of the countries he has visited distinct and memorable.

From the Author

"It is a bit disconcerting at times to roam a place, simply with an eye for decay and abandonment, and at times, my friends would ask me, "Isn't it a bit depressing to focus on this subject?" Yet what I learned is that abandonment has its own form of beauty. It has its own form of integrity that offers a moment of introspection. To stand in front of the remains of a church, a train station, or hospital is to conjure up image of the lives of the people who created, cared for, and lived within their walls. It provides a metaphor for the cycle of life."

From the Back Cover

GLOBAL REMAINS is Michael Clinton's third and final international exploration of people, places, and things that began with Global Snaps and continued with the publication of Global Faces. In GLOBAL REMAINS he presents the relics from around the globe--both recent and ancient--that range from everyday objects, to items of mass consumption, to buildings of note, to architectural wonders. With these books in hand, every reader has an opportunity to travel the world, seeing the unacknowledged nooks and crannies of culture, as well as the landmarks and monuments that may be widely known, but rarely visited.
