So, if you want to get an actual, accurate, working tracker, don't buy this.

This is a GSM tracker, not a GPS tracker. That means it locates by cell tower triangulation which can can be wildly inaccurate. A GPS tracker can locate to within 20 feet. If you want that kind of accuracy, don't get this tracker.

The instructions that come with the unit are very poorly translated from the Chinese. What you'll have to do is search the web for translations.

Unlike GPS trackers, this unit does not give you actual coordinates that you can plug into something like Google Maps to see the location. It goes through a 3rd party mapping website which is so buggy that it's useless.

I could not get me device to complete the registration process nor could I ever see the location on a map.

You are supposed to be able to download an app for the iPhone but iTunes will tell you that it is not available for the U.S.

The SMS commands I've sent to it don't seem to be recognized.

So, is this a complete waste of money? Not exactly. It works as a listening device. It has a built in mic. Just call the number of the SIM you installed and it will answer without making a sound. If you want to overhear somebody's conversation undetected, this will do it.

The SOS button works, but only sometimes, and you have to remember to keep it pressed for several seconds.

So, if you want to get an actual, accurate, working tracker, don't buy this. But a TK 102. Buy if you want to bug a room or a car, this will work. However, it's battery operated so if you want the bug to be operational for an extended period of time, you'll need to wire it to a source of power. It has a USB cord so anything that will charge your iPhone will charge this.

As for a SIM card, which it will need, you can get a cheap one from H2O Wireless and it will last about 90 days for $10.

The unit does not even contain a GPS chip. It uses cell location to report position. It is very imprecise and unreliable. It is only good as a spy microphone.

I've tried two of these units and I can't get them to work. I've tried using both tmobile and att pre-paid SIM's. I know the SIM's are good as I can put them in a phone and they give data and SMS. I really wanted it to work so I could use it as a back up in case I crashed a model airplane and needed to track its location.
