5.0 out of 5 stars Out of this world !, September 8, 2008

If you are a trance fan and particularly enjoy non-cheesy progressive sound, do yourself a favor right now and get this CD !!! For the past 2 years I did not believe that any DJ can produce anything superior to the Gatecrasher Live in Moscow Mix by Christopher Lawrence, Gatecrasher: Christopher Lawrence Live in Moscow. The Live in Moscow compilation has been a mind-blowing trip into real intelligent trance and has been in my car MP3 player non-stop ever since its release in 06 (though be careful with speeding if you have such music in your car :-)). Well, it has arrived, this CD is as good, inspiring, intelligent, and uplifiting as the Live in Moscow release (though stylistically a bit different, which is very good !!). So, if you are let down by a number of recent trance compilations with a bitter sleezy taste of melancholic vocal pop house (no need to mention names), this is the release that will not disappoint you. Highly recommended, enjoy ! And a huge THANK YOU to Christopher Lawrence for his exciting work and original style. I hope to see him soon in the clubs in Texas !!! CL, we love you !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff here!!!!, February 19, 2011
This review is from: Global Trance Grooves Vol. 1: Two Tribes (Audio CD)
I bought this disc purely for the Christopher Lawrence portion (I have all of his albums), but was very pleasantly surprised with John 00 Fleming.

John 00 Fleming's mix was a great blend of hard trance and psytrance that crushes the beats and builds and builds as the tracks progress. Very tight and bangin - if you excuse my euphemism.

Christopher Lawrence, as always, never lets me down. His mixes are excellent hard trance that is true to the genre and have great beats. In addition his flow is incredible with phenomenal build ups.

Simply fantastic!!! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mind blowing psychedelic trance!!, December 28, 2009

I grabbed this CD after I heard John 00 Fleming's "Psy-Trance Euphoria 2", which was beyond amazing. I had also heard good things about Christopher Lawrence, so I decided to give this 2 CD mix a go.

John 00 Fleming's mix starts off with more progressive psy-trance, and slowly builds up a to an utterly euphoric climax. Whoever attempted to belittle John 00 Fleming's mix simply can't appreciate the intricacy of progressive psy.

Christopher Lawrences mix is somewhat harder psy-trance, with some hard trance mixed in. Another excellent mix; I was thoroughly impressed.

Both artist have a superb track selection, and the mixing is pretty good. If you like psy-trance even remotely, your bound to enjoy these 2 masterpiece mixes. Both CD's are a unique and enticing journey. This is one of the most epic psy-trance mixes that has ever graced my eardrums.

It's tough to find new, unique trance material because so many people just grab some samples and turn on the computer. At least the djs on this cd find some good, unique tracks that grab your attention in a good way.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can quite literally use this to put the house on fire!!, January 20, 2009
This review is from: Global Trance Grooves Vol. 1: Two Tribes (Audio CD)
This CD is astonishingly good. I've made tons of purchases from amazon, from markus schulz to armin van buuren and above & beyond. But this compilation stands out. Heck, any compilation by christopher lawrence is fantastic.

This compilation is the reason why i buy trance music & am so much in awe of it. It is essentially a journey into sounds, weird, distorted, electronic, minimally vocalized, hard, pure & fun. And when John OO & Christopher lawrence combine forces, you better listen.

I also own the gatecrasher live mix, and it gives me goosebumps at the thought of how amazing the stuff would play on huge stadium speakers in an open arena. Watching CL Live would be living the dream.

Two Tribes basically sets the tone with the OO Flemming set, progressing smoothly, unleashing itself with insipit by paulina crawe. From then on, John Flemming's set is very trancey, but lacks the punch towards the end, when it vaguely disfigures itself in the genre. Super beginning, great build ups, but a mediocre closing.

Christopher Lawrence set picks up from Zen mechanics ground control & off the grid, really blasts off on Icontrol by Crying freeman, & by the middle of who are you? by magnetia, things start getting really DIRTY!

Christopher lawrence's style is relentless! You have to own this compilation to appreciate and admire the layers of complexity involved in this genre of music. It might strike similar notes repeatedly, but somewhere within lurks genius. Great work by the artists on the compilation, & even better work by the two legends who've worked on them to churn out this wonderful album. Sounds are fresh, progressive & propulsive with great energy & uber-cool build-ups throughout.

Must buy for fans of progressive trance

If you like trance Christopher Lawrence is one of the best and 00 has great stuff, too. I love to use this to run or bike to (lifecycle). I used to dance to it, but have slowed down on the night life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gatecrasher Moscow and Unfold 2 are better, October 24, 2008

This review is from: Global Trance Grooves Vol. 1: Two Tribes (Audio CD)
First of all, 00 Fleming should stick to his own albums because Christopher Lawrence just puts him to shame. As for CD 2, it's good but not CL's best and definitely not better than Gatecrasher Live in Moscow OR Unfold 2. Highlights are tracks 3-10 (the psytrance of course). 8 and 10 are outstanding. The rest of the CD is too light and I really wish CL would drop the pure progressive stuff because it sounds old and the transition to psy is very awkward. Otherwise I definitely recommend this album, it's a billion times better than any mainstream trance out there now.
