Danny strikes gold with this one!, August 17, 2001
This review is from: Global Underground - London (Audio CD)
Danny Tenaglia finally gets it right and delivers a 5 star gem. Global Underground London is an excellent double cd set that takes you on a tribal house journey into the underground. You can't really compare these sets with the ones from Athens since they're a totally different feel and brand of house music. London is strictly deep underground house with a heavy tribal influence unlike the trance/house sound of Athens. This is wonderfully mixed with an excellent music selection. The beats are pumpin and the bass is deep. There are no weaknesses in these sets and this is without question Tenaglia's finest work yet. CD 1 clocks in at over 71 minutes and is excellent expression of deep tribal house music. There are too many choice titles to list but the numbers are 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11. This is good stuff and I recommend it to any tribal house heads. CD1 rates 5 stars. CD 2 clocks in at over 72 minutes and is composed of tribal, underground and even some trance house. The mixing is quality and the music selection is diverse but excellent. The tempo of this set is a little slower than cd 1 but still comes off well. Cuts of choice are "Magical Digital Drum", "Basic", "Phoenix", "Burning", and "Ways of Love." CD2 rates 4.75 stars. This is an excellent cd for anyone interested in house music. You have variety, excellent mixing and beats that are deep and forceful. You shouldn't have any problem dancing to these sets. Whether you're starting out in house music or a veteran, you'll want to add this to your collection.

THIS IS HOUSE, IN ALL IT'S BEAUTY & MIGHT, August 13, 2001
This review is from: Global Underground - London (Audio CD)
Let's get it straight, there are DJs and there is Danny Tenaglia. Danny will get John, Sasha, Dave, Paul, Nick and Darren on the dance floor any time. I feel this is one of his best compilations, although Tenaglia is best enjoyed when hearing him spin live. (anybody out there remembers the legendary 8-hour Miami set..........) Disc 1 is very original, it the first two tracks are tribal, african, jazzy type "o" house, after that you will hear pure house, building up to a progressive climax. Disc 2 is a beautiful remix which consists out of progressive & deep house, you will also hear some trance-like tracks, but it never goes over the edge. Overall this is a deep, dark, sexy, sleazy, intense compilation with great beats and even more soul. Tenaglia uses only the best parts of each track and he remixes them, creating a unique vibe. He definately goes the extra mile. The only thing better is experiencing Tenaglia live! This is absolutely a must have. If you do not get this, then you do not understand house. (and as you know, not everyone understands house music, it's a soul thing......)

PLEASE READ, November 10, 2000

You will find many different styles in this set: House, Tribal Beats, Trance, Vocal (CD1 tends more towards House and CD2 - my favorite- towards trance). But the diversity of styles, Danny's mixing and tracks' order creates a nearly perfect set, fluid, homogeneous and different. What mostly amazed me is that I found it very familiar and at the same time strange, very conventional and at the same time futuristic (especially CD2). If you are searching for the very high quality we used to find in Sasha's "San Francisco", Digweed's "Sidney" or Nick Warren "Budapest" don't hesitate to buy this one. CD2 alone is worth getting the set.
