I just finished reading Global Warming: Alarmists, Skeptics and Deniers. I really enjoyed this book as it separates out and explains all the different aspects and types of research evidence associated with climate change. It is my personal interest and a big part of my job as a consultant to keep up with trends in research, business and government policy, so I appreciate having all this information gathered together with clearly listed sources. I have degrees in geophysics and geology as well as a master's degree in landscape architecture and I have seen first-hand how climate change is a political agenda--especially in academia. It is frustrating to see how this particular issue has been exaggerated and twisted. This is a concise, easy read for anyone who would like an introduction to the science of climate change research.

I've read upwards of two dozen books and hundreds of articles on climate change. In my view this is one of the very best. It is non-strident, factual, and clearly written. It answers all the important questions (except, of course, the unknown answer as to how climate will change in the future). His understanding of both the settled and unsettled aspects of climate science and the underlying principles of scientific inquiry are outstanding. His ability to cite the most pertinent data and sources is equally impressive, as is his ability to put both facts and theory in perspective. He is particularly effective in using the geological record to rebut the absurd claims that recent global warming is somehow unprecedented. I regard this as the single best primer for someone who wants to learn about climate science without having to dive into the miasma of the claims and counterclaims. I found no errors of fact or interpretation. It would be hard for any rational person with an open mind to read this book and remain a climate alarmist or cultist. My only serious criticism of this book is that its editing was somewhat sloppy. While all climate change books are almost instantly obsolete in one respect or another, given the fast-changing body of science and fact (like 18 years of no global warming as of late 2014), this one will stand the test of time. That said, I would love to see an updated edition in 2015 with some careful editing. My standards are very high or I would give it five stars.

A fairly easy read which gives the reader "the other side" of the global warming/climate change debate. The authors do a great job of scientifically disproving many, if not all, of the current global warming/climate change theories that are out there. This book is a "must read" for anyone looking to make up their own mind about this controversial issue.

You wouldn't expect a non-fiction scientific factual book to be very interesting to read, but this one will surprise you. The question-answer style makes it a light read and structures the facts very well.

Very reliable, peer-reviewed citations all over the place, graphs, etc., the author presents an objective view showing arguments from both sides and what facts there are to support those arguments.

Read this, learn the facts, and spread the truth

Excellent book with extensive references on the data and open-minded conclusions with explanations. I bought the paperback edition which didn't have color on the charts. I was comfortable with the narrative explanations, but would recommend color for more clarity. There were a few grammatical/typo errors which were not important, except it detracted from the credibility. I would assume subsequent editions have these corrected. I was glad the book covered a bit on the European Laboratory for Particle Physics announcement of the Large Hadron Collider tests of Henrik Svensmark's theory of cosmic rays and cloud formation, since I am also into astronomy as well as geology. This information really puts the lie to the global warming alarmists, because it is obvious that they have disregarded both the sciences of astronomy and geology in their claimed "scientific consensus". In this vein I also highly recommend the outstanding book, "The Chilling Stars" by Svensmark & Calder.

The book is structured as a sequence of questions and answers. It reads like a transcript to an extended "Meet the Press" interview with Dr. Robinson being both the interrogator and the respondent. As an aid to public understanding, the book succeeds or fails on whether the questions fairly present the case for Global Warming Alarm and whether Dr. Robinson's answers are sober and tied to credible findings. On these points the book succeeds with flying colors.

But it is a shame that the book did not have better editing.

Finally, a real scientist debunks much of what the US media and Al Gore constantly preach, but who constantly leave out the data that does not fit into their cause. The author provides lots of peer-reviewed studies to debunk much of the inaccurate, climate-related, information perpetuated by people that profit from "crying wolf" about the climate.

For those who appreciate the Socratic style of questions and answers (and I do), this is a clear, factual and earnest guide to all of the major issues in the Global Warming Debate (and also the Anthropogenic Global Warming Debate, which covers a narrower range of material since it assumes mankind as the chief, causal factor). For those of you who think the debate is over, this is not the religious catechism you are probably looking for.

Those with an inquiring mind and focused curiosity will be swept along with ease and excitement by G. Dedrick Robinson, who not only knows what he is talking about but manages to digest some rather complicated subjects into small Question & Answer bites that allow you to fluidly range through a very large sweep of the relevant material. Of the 20+ books in my library on this subject, this one is in my top 5 as a well grounded guide to all the others.

My recommendation to anyone who buys this book is to use it as a jumping off point into the critical areas that he covers. For someone who is not specifically a climatologist, Robinson, as a Professor of Geology, manages to dissect his subject ruthlessly with logic and integrity.

Well done from every angle.

For those who care about such things, there is no Index.
