More About the Author

T.J.M. Holden was born in Pasadena, California, and has lived in Paris, France, and Sendai, Japan. He was educated at University of California, Irvine, and Syracuse University, and is currently Professor of Mediated Sociology at Tohoku University. He has published extensively on advertising, television, the Internet, cell phones, film, globalization, gender, identity and Japan--most notably, the books "Globalization, Culture and Inequality in Asia" and "medi@sia: Global Media/tion In and Out of Context".

"Peripatetic Postcards: the journey of life through 25 of the world's cities" is his first literary memoir. A second, "Red Dot, Orange, Rock, Blues", details his year coaching women's professional basketball in Japan. "The Seekers of Wisdom", a novel of philosophical detection, is scheduled for publication in 2011.
