I've gone through too many desk lamps looking for one that's just right. If I had hair, I'd be like Goldilocks looking for the perfect fit.
For me this lamp is a perfect combination of illuminatin and style. The six inch base doesn't take up a lot of room and the lamp shade is adjustable by the flexible gooseneck.

I don't want a lamp that lights the whole room; I've got a floor lamp for that. The Globe desk lamp illuminates a large enough concentrated area to light my large desk calendar and keyboard; it makes reading in that limited area comfortable.

The cord is not very long, but reaches far enough for my needs. If you need a six foot cord, you'll need an extension.
The on/off switch is on the cord, about a foot from the lamp base. Depending on placement, this could be a problem in some applications.
Replacing the special fluorescent bulb with built in ballast could be a problem. I haven't seen bulbs like this in stores, but they are available on Amazon. If you buy this lamp, you'd be wise to buy an extra bulb at the same time.

You get what you pay for. This lamp is alright, a little dim, but it works well for me. I am a little concerned about replacing the bulb when it burns out. It seems to require a special brand sold by the manufacturer.

The lamp works well enough and seems sturdy. My issue is the bulb is not a standard light bulb which I thought it was when I purchased it. I use 13 watt cfls in all my lights and when I saw this included a 13 watt cfl, I stopped reading the description.

Had I read on, I would have learned that the bulb is not a standard cfl, but has a GU24 base which is hard to find and expensive.

The only place I seem to be able to find them is Amazon and a few other online retailers, and they are around $8.00 per bulb. Half the price of the lamp. I can buy 8 packs of standard 13 watt cfls from amazon for $10.00, so this seems really expensive to me...

This bulb isn't going to last the rated 7 years either, none of them do. When it burns out, I'll remove the socket and replace it with a standard screw socket so I don't end up throwing the lamp away.

Decent desk lamp. I wish it was a little bit brighter sometimes, but it works well other than that. I'm assuming it's the energy saving bulb that comes with it that is causing it to be dimmer than other lamps. Nice design and functionality though.

Great lamp for a cheap price!
Quite adequate lighting given the size of the lamp and considering it's supposed "energy saving" capability. One large plus is that the lamp shade doesn't get hot at all even after being turned on for hours. Good value for money

Small, compact, but very bright light. A pleasure to use, especially on a small desk.

I like this lamp. Energy savings is a plus but I really like the design. Kind of like the old school 60s stuff you used to see (and probably sometimes still do). Not so retro that it will go out of style anytime soon either.

A nice, basic lamp. If you're looking for something that is more functional than flashy, this is a winner.

The lamp works and I haven't found the light to be too dim. The box says the lightbulb included will work for years and the replacement is $6.66 in Amazon, so the unusual ballast of the bulb shouldn't be a problem. My only complaint is its appearance. The color makes the metal look more like cheap plastic, and it isn't appealing. I have a very similar lamp bought at Walmart for the same price, and the finish is brushed chrome... what a difference!

The lamp broke in 1.5 days. It was small and efficient for directed lighting when it worked. Unfortunately, it broke very, very quickly. I have extra screw-in bulbs, but this one takes a two-pronged special bulb. Oh, well. Better luck next time.

This product came to fall off the desk and i tried to hold it with my hands and my finger got hurt--minor cuts two places and bleeding. Do not give this product to a child. The rounded shade area is sharp. I immediately destroyed this lamp to avoid future possible problems with my children. I thought that even giving it to my neighbor for free may be unethical. Thus, I cut off the line with scissor and put it in the trash bin. I am sorry to have to say this to the manufacturer but I think you need to make it safer. Other than this, this worked well and this is cheap one. yes. I admit it..
