I just received my 8-pack of the soft white bulbs, and I'm so thrilled with them! I started changing to compact fluorescent bulbs and my electric bill did start going down! It's easier to see the savings now that I'm no longer running the air-conditioner. I was gradually introducing them into my home, and my October bill was about 25%-30% lower than last year at that time. I've been trying different brands, hoping to achieve lighting that more closely resembled incandescent bulbs. I'm not a fan of the cool fluorescent lighting and it seems like every brand has its own take on this. Okay, these bulbs are PERFECT for me. They look soft and warm, they are sized in a way that is more compatible with my lamps and fixtures. They even light up quickly (some fluorescent bulbs take a couple of minutes to brighten completely). Anyway, these are exactly what I was looking for and I'm going to get another set of 8 so I can upgrade even more of my home! Also, this is a GREAT price.

You will be happier with the ULTRA mini,
This review is from: Globe 6880201 13-Watt Mini Compact Fluorescent Spiral Light Bulb (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), Soft White, 8 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
You will be happier with the ULTRA mini. Trust me. Most lamps that use 60 watts incandescent bulbs are smaller and/or have less shade space. And the "minis" ain't all that mini - I have had to use the ultra-minis on lamps that used to use 3-ways. And the soft white ultra minis I have bought are brighter than the incandescent equivalent (closer to 75 watt).
I "know" from compact fluorescents as we 95% converted 6 months ago (only one incandescent left). You'll get used to them in a very short time. Ultra minis were selling on Amazon for a LOT less than this (price is total rip-off).

Both bulbs blink,
This review is from: Globe 6880201 13-Watt Mini Compact Fluorescent Spiral Light Bulb (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), Soft White, 8 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
With my first N:Vision bulb, it started blinking after it was on between 6 and 12 hours. I returned it to Home Depot for an exchange and the same thing happened. I tried two fixtures with no luck.
When it blinks, I can turn the lamp off, then on and the blinking stops temporarily. N:VISION clearly has a quality problem.

These bulbs take 1-2 seconds to turn on and then a few minutes before reaching maximum brightness. I've seen better performance from other brands.
EDIT: Found a great brand. Go to Home Depot and there you will find N:Vision brand fluorescent light bulbs. They are instant on.

mini compact fluorescent,

Switching from incandescent to compact flourescent bulbs is a significant energy saver, and long-time money saver. These minis are great because the base is small enough that lamp hasps which won't fit over base of regular compact fluourescent will often fit over these. Not a lot of light, but only 13 watts of energy burned.

Call your local Ace hardware, find out when these will be on sale for $1 each. You can't go wrong spending a buck a piece instead of $3-4 everywhere else.

Not the brightest bulb in the bunch,

The only thing going for these (as opposed to other CFLs) is their form factor- very small. However, they are very slow on the brighten-up. So much so that I had to replace all these I had installed (except for one fixture, where no other CFL will fit). The Sylvania brand is brighter at switch-on, and also cheaper (purchased at BJ's),than these bulbs.

Too many failures. Don't expect rated life expectancy,

I have replaced 9 bulbs in my house with these GE compact bulbs during the last year. I have had three failures so far. I would estimate these bulbs failed in less than 500 hours which makes them rather expensive considering the price. The bulbs which failed were all mounted in ceiling fixtures base up. Possibly that was a contributing factor. The three that failed were all from the same package. Possibly that was a bad production run. One of the bulbs was installed above a staircase in a fixture that is difficult to access. I put the bulb there specifically to not have to change it again based on the advertised life expectancy of these bulbs. It failed in a few months in an area where an incandescent lasted a couple of years. I do like the concept of saving energy and will continue to use the seven left in the package I already purchased, but I won't buy more GE bulbs if the failure rate continues.

So far, I'm using 4 of 8 of these in a light fixture, and one flickered when the light was turned on the first time it was used. This bulb burned out after 3 days of use, approximately 10 hours of usage at the most. Low quality bulbs, light is also too yellowish for my liking. The ones that do work are nice and bright though.
Hopefully the rest last longer than a few hours.

Works perfectly, saves money, is smaller than higher watt bulbs, and Amazon ordering and service is second to none. Would definitely order again.
