Dave Angel - Globetrotting,
This review is from: Globetrotting (Audio CD)
Dave Angel continues his high-strength Detroit tech-house with GLOBETROTTING. You wouldn't expect a track called "Philly Bluntz" to be so uptempo (or "This Is Disco" to have little actual disco content), but there you have it "Funk Music," though, delivers on its title, and "Club Hell" is danceable heresy at its best. "Sensor Zurich" and "Toyko Stealth Fighter" keep the tempo and the energy up, while "K Road Nz" goes into some perky jazzstep. But for those who can't get enough tech-house, "Liquid Rooms" and "Chicago Emerald City" are like a tall glasses of water. A solid blast of awesomeness.

Not just another hard pumping collection of techno tracks,

Germans would say "Turbo Techno". Swedes would say "yeah, I like". Previous Dave Angel buyers would say "Just another hard pumping collection of techno tracks". This record doesn't sound like Dave Angels previous works. Globetrotting, with it's flagship track "Club Hell" puts D Angel on my list of guys-who-can-tweak-sequencers-til-they-swing. Yes, it really swings, but it's music to be eaten after 3pm. Tokyo Stealth Fighter is another good track with samples from the arcade Defender. I like.
