Not as Great as her Later albums,

This is the first album for Gloria Deluxe (Cynthia Hopkins and her band), and it has a lot of charm and humor. But it has not won my heart in the same quick and easy way that later albums have, such as ALAS ALACK and (especially) ACCIDENTAL NOSTALGIA. But if you have already explored those discs and you like them, then this one is certainly worth picking up. Enjoy!

Gloria has done it again. She did it once but some people may have thought that it was an aberration and that she would not be able to do it a second time. They were wrong. She did. Technically this is her debut album but for me, I will always consider it to be her second album, because Hooker, her second album, is the first album I listened to and fell in love with, so for me, that is her real debut and this is her second album, even though, technically, in "reality," this is her debut and Hooker is her second album. Who cares really though? It's all good...
