5.0 out of 5 stars HOT, HOT, HOT
My friend bought this CD for me from Amazon and I was completely stunned. I like Gloria Estefan to a degree and was a little weary before putting it on but this blasts all her other albums away! It has to be one of the best albums I've heard this decade with incredibly catchy dance tunes mixed all the way through. My faves are "Heavens What I feel" "Don't...

2.0 out of 5 stars mixed bag of styles leads to disappointment
Gloria! is a mixed bag of styles - and those who loved her earlier hits and are not wild about hip-hop will probably be as disappointed as I am. There are several tunes which please, mostly in Spanish, which is giving me incentive to study up on my spanish vocabulary so I can understand what she's saying, but those hip-hop cuts are definitely irritating. Only some of...

My faves are "Heavens What I feel" "Don't let this moment end" "Oye" "Don't Stop" and "I just wanna be happy" but it's so hard to choose as all the songs could be hit singles. I thought Chers "Believe" album was the best dance album I had in my collection but this CD leaves it behind. Thank God my friend had the guts to buy this for me as I never even knew it existed, it must have been pretty badly promoted over here in Ireland as it should have been a smash!

If you are a dance diva fan, and u still dont have this one u have no idea what r u missing, i have always been a fan from Gloria but defenetily this is really the most different album from all others, this one could've been a new Cher record, but hey is Gloria!.
This is a Non Stop album, so it makes u think that this Gem will never end. The best track here has to be
'Don't let this moment end' the Type-of-Disco Video makes it different from her others (The big, big hair is the best)
The Cover of the US version was supposed to be the cover from the int'l version but someone made a mistake and switch them.
Gloria works with Wyclef Jean (Fugees), a rare collaboration.
so if you want to dance, this is your Gloria! .

5.0 out of 5 stars Gloria Fever!, April 13, 2004

All I can say is..WHAT A GREAT CD!! I bought this on the day it was released in the US. I had heard "heaven's what i feel" on the radio a lot and knew the voice. I waited in anticipation of the release figuring that was the best song on the album. I played it over and over all day when i bought it.. EVERY SINGLE SONG blends dance <my favorite type of music> with gloria's wonderful voice. My favorite 2 tracks though ended up being the light and sunny Touched By An Angel and the rousing Don't Let This Moment End. If you like gloria estefan and you love to dance go out and BUY THIS CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Experience Gloria!, July 2, 2002
This review is from: Gloria (Audio CD)
After a somewhat disapointing album with 1996's DESTINY, Gloria Estefan returned in 1998 with a new energy on this album GLORIA! The album weighs heavily on disco influences, giving the album a fresh vibe overall. The first single "Heaven's What I Feel" is the perfect way to open this album, very upbeat and inspiring, definite standout track. "Don't Stop" starts out like a fresh breeze then kicks into gear! In fact on GLORIA! there is hardly any ballads to be found, its just a fun album. "Oye" weighs heavily on spanish influences, creating a great salsa type track. "Real Woman" is a fun song with great vocals. One of my favorites is "Feelin'", great old school vibe on this one, very discoish, really feel good song. "Don't Release Me" features Wyclef Jean, it had to grow on me but its not bad, not a favorite though. "Don't Let This Moment End" is a great dance song, shame it didn't do as good as it should have, its a great piece of dance material. "Touched By An Angel", "Lucky Girl" and "I Just Wanna Be Happy" are all great as well. "Cuba Libre" pays homage to her heritage and where she's from. As a bonus, there are 5 alternate versions, mostly remixes. Overall GLORIA! is a great album full of pep and energy, and fun to listen to, one of her more interesting albums to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different ain't bad..., August 10, 2000
This review is from: Gloria (Audio CD)
My favorite of the Gloria albums so far, she lets rip now that she's totally established, and the result is a true bright spot, devoid of the usual love ballads that she intersperses with her pop songs. And whoo! Expect your heart rate to skyrocket after this!

The first two songs "Heaven's What I Feel" and "Don't Stop" are a whirlwind of synthesized sound and magnified vocals--magnificent! "Oye" is a bit more sexual, and a bit more Latin. "Real Woman" is more of a scaled down version of the first two songs, while "Feelin'" is a little poppier than the rest of the album.

Wyclef Jean the rapper appears on most of "Don't Release Me", while Gloria handles the chorus. "Don't Let This Moment End" is the same power-packed type of song as "Don't Stop", with a background chorus that is simply amazing. "Touched By An Angel" and "Lucky Girl" are fluffier bits of song, but still enjoyable.

After the catchy "I Just Wanna Be Happy" comes the most important of all the songs, "Cuba Libre," harkening back to the fact that Gloria came from Cuba.

Gloria made this album a thing of beauty, forever switching from one powerful song to another until the customer is left breathless and achy for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars LITTLE KNOWN TREASURE!, July 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Gloria (Audio CD)
It amazes me that more people have not heard this album or gave it a try! WHAT A GREAT COLLECTION! The most amazing part aside from Gloria's wonderful voice and the fantastic music is that she actually takes us back to the disco day's with her own songs, no re-makes here folks all original. "Heavens What I Feel" was her solo on the first DIVA'S LIVE special and it doesn't stop there, some major highlights to listen for are "Don't Let This Moment End", "Don't Stop" and "Touched By An Angel". The whole album is a feel-good ride across the dance floor with just enough spicing to update it to the 90's. If you are a fan of dance music or certainly a fan of Gloria's, THIS IS A MUST! INFECTIOUS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Este-FANTASTIC, January 1, 2000

Picture this; the opening track "Heavens what I feel" drifts along at a balladic pace, suddenly it whirls into a throbbing dance beat and before you can say "oye" your dancing and singing along like never before, setting the perfect tone for the rest of this magical album. Forget those artist such as Cher, Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez who recently jumped on the dance and Latin bandwagon after this album was released...Gloria is riding this rollercoaster party all the way round and you'll want to come back for more than seconds. With the retro splashed "Don't Stop" Gloria takes us back to the Disco heydays of Studio 54 and white suits while "Oye" stampedes at a relentlessly rhythmic pace, chanting and teasing under the mix of Dance masters Tony Moran and Pablo Flores. Not wanting to ignore her drag queen fans Gloria lets loose on the techno inspired "Real Woman" while "Feelin" trip hops under a candy melody. Combining her vocal talents with the rap master Wyclef Jean "Don't release me" suddenly transforms into a funky little gem while "Don't let this moment end" is a haunting disco number with progressive undertones. "Touched by an Angel" brings us into Abba Territory with "Dancing Queen" samples..While "Lucky Girl" and "I just wanna be Happy" explode with Brazillian carnival drums above a thumping dance beat. Ending it all with "Cuba Libre" Gloria gets nostalgic while the salsa disco beat never lets up! Add all his to tracks that seemlessly mix and blend into each other and you have the definition of the dance party album with attitude!
