There's a reason moms wear Mom jeans. No, it's not because we're fat and no it's not because we are so exhausted by our children that we have ceased to care about how we look. Nay nay.

Moms wear Mom jeans for one excellent reason: because as ridiculous as we look in our Mom jeans, we look ten times more ridiculous in Teen jeans so count your effin' blessings.

When you have children, the connective tissue between the left and right abdominal muscles is all but destroyed and your very BONES shift. That's why, after we have children, even if we lose all the baby weight, the clothes we wore before just do not fit right. Our waists are not where they once were, and those hip huggers become muffin-topped, plumber-butted disasters.

Amanda jeans sit at the natural waist, they have room in the right places and don't bag in the wrong ones. I do wish they had those slimming panel pockets in front, but that's fairly easy to engineer yourself (just stitch a piece of lycra to each of the side seams et voila! a whole new you.)

Next time you feel like making fun of your Mom for her Mom jeans, drop instead to your knees and pay HOMAGE to her SELFLESSNESS in giving up her cute little figure so YOU could have LIFE, you ungrateful wretch! Then buy her ten pairs of Amanda jeans. And also go do the dishes, Mom is exhausted.

I have been buying Amanda Stretch Jeans for several years, and the only problem I have with them is the stunning inconsistency in size: it seems to matter where they are made. I have just bought one Short and one Average pair (both black). The Short, made in Pakistan, is about one or two full sizes smaller than the Average, which was made in Kenya and fits fine. An older pair I have, made in Madagascar, is the best fit. Too bad we can't choose the location of manufacture -- or too bad GV can't, in some way, have consistent "quality assurance." If you don't mind establishing a personal relationship with the UPS driver, GV Amanda jeans are great.

I used to love these jeans and have purchased many pairs. But they've shortened the depth of the front pockets--they're now so small that anything you put in there will fall out. I carry my cell phone and wallet in my front pocket, so now I have to find a new brand of go-to pants. (I work in an ER and wore these instead of scrubs.) Furthermore, I haven't been able to find a way to complain. GVJ has been bought out by Jones. The saleslady at Penney's has heard about this from other customers, and knew exactly what I was doing when I shook out a pair to check the pocket, but she didn't have any contact info. Actually, I was on Google looking for a way to contact and protest when I was directed here, so thought I'd leave a review. If you're a fan, be wary. If they fix this problem, I'll revise my star rating. Love the fit, the price, and the variety of colors.

I have several pairs of the Amanda jeans in long length. They are the first jeans I've bought in years and years because they are the first ones to fit comfortably and look great. Even my 20something daughter was amazed - Mom, you look great! Wow, you're wearing nice jeans!
They are hard to find and very much worth it.

Had a problem with the sizing. It seems to matter where they're made. The jeans that are made in Sri Lanka fit better than the ones made in Egypt or Pakistan and Malaysia. The ones from China have VERY short pockets and the material is inferior. The material is identical to the other ones, but definitely different after washing. The material is a little "rougher". Perhaps a poorer grade of cotton.
I have to be more diligent and read the label before purchase, as I still like the jeans.
It seems now though, it's hit or miss.

I'm a tall petite and bought these in a 10P. I love the fit through the waist, hip and thighs but was disappointed by the quality of the fabric and the fact that even though I washed them in cold water and dried them on low, they shrank a little. They still look good, but still. I got them at Beall's of Florida online on sale for $22. Try the Levi's 512 Perfectly Slimming Jeans -- $34.99 at Macys, but the fabric is a better quality and they didn't shrink on washing.

I LOVE these jeans. I like the straight leg look on me and these are a great fit. I keep buying more. I always choose these over other jeans in my pile. I think it is all that comfort and looking good, too!

I remember loving Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in high school and was pleasantly surprised to find she still knows how to create a wonderful fitting jean!
