This is a fabulous book that deserves a re-print
My mother bought this book in 1970. We loved it and it caused quite a sensation. Who could forget the quilted room and floor! This book showcases Gloria's exquisite taste, but her ideas are practical and down to earth--she shows you how to take small mementoes and transform them into beautiful artwork. Not what I expected.
This book was way over rated, probably because of who wrote it, I did not find anything in this book that I felt was helpful.

This book showcases Gloria's exquisite taste, but her ideas are practical and down to earth--she shows you how to take small mementoes and transform them into beautiful artwork. I wish they (someone) would re-print this book. And it would make a great feature for Victoria magazine. If anyone comes across this in a bookstore--snatch it up! I'm afraid they are few and far between. I consider it a "rare diamond" in the crowded field of do it yourself/interior design books.

Being a big fan of Gloria Vanderbilt, I was delighted to find this book in my local library. I sat myself down and read it, and was amazed at how good it was! Gloria Vanderbilt takes a not-all-that-interesting subject and turns it into something that I would love to do! She gives all kinds of good ideas for collages, and writes in a very informal, fun tone. This book is a wonder! I'm not sure why it was ever taken out of print.
