5.0 out of 5 stars Copeland's "Glory" Packed With Adventure & Romance

This review is from: Glory (Brides of the West 1872, No. 4 / HeartQuest) (Paperback)
After the wonderful story of "Hope" I tore into "Glory" like a hungry wolf tears into its prey. Glory, a sheltered mountain girl, is forced to build a life on her own after her Poppy dies. With a bagful of gold and no change of clothes, she sets out in search of a new life. Far too naive for the cold world before her, she ends up on the run from a greedy uncle who wants her gold -- and who will kill her to get it. When she manages to latch on (however unwillingly) to a wagonneer named Jackson and a group of teenaged mail order brides, things REALLY get interesting. In her travels and adventures, Glory grows into a beautiful young woman with an unshakeable faith -- but will her faith be enough to win the heart of the handsome wagonneer? Copeland's "Glory" was glorious. This one's a MUST READ.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Great Reading, December 20, 2000
This review is from: Glory (Brides of the West 1872, No. 4 / HeartQuest) (Paperback)
Continuing in the spirit of her books: Faith, Hope & June; Lori Copeland has written another fun book which leaves you smiling and feeling good. The book reinforces Christian principles while including romance, inspiration, humor and excitement. I Can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read, December 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Glory (Brides of the West 1872, No. 4 / HeartQuest) (Paperback)
I thought that this book was a wonderful book. I liked Jackson, the wagon master, he seems like a strong, proud man. I also liked Glory. Sometimes as new Christians we all have the same question as she did. I kept you on your seat when the story took a turn in events. It also kept you wondering who Jackson would eventually end up with. This book showed a woman can do just as well or sometimes better when it comes to "man's work" (I think that this is only true in certian situations and conditions).

5.0 out of 5 stars Glory,Is My Favorite Book In This Series!, August 12, 2008
I loved this story. It is full of adventure, action, romance, and suspense. The friendship, bonding, then love, that develops between the poor mountain girl Glory, who was raised by a kind older man in isolation, and the 5 traveling mail-order brides,is heartwarming.

The girls help Glory change from thinking two baths within a few months, was 1 too many, into a lovely young woman who learns to read, and to love. Glory's pure honesty and innocence teaches the girls and the wagon-master Lincoln Jackson a few things,as well!

I should have stopped after reading Glory, because Ruth doesn't even have the same feeling at all,nor does it feel like it is even part of a series, there are too many changes, especially in the character of Ruth.

However,Glory is a wonderful read,as a stand alone book.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best so far, January 8, 2012

I have read the first 4 in this series now. This one is by far the best! the first 3 seemed kind of predictable of what was going to happen towards the end etc. This one is a lovely story. Faith, friendship, hardship, love are all in this book. Thanks to my husband for getting me this one! oh just found out he got me book 5...off to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, April 12, 2007
By
This review is from: Glory (Brides of the West 1872, No. 4 / HeartQuest) (Paperback)
I was a little worried after I bought this book and then read the reviews. There were some reviews that said this book was awful but I actually loved it. There were times when I wondered, "how is this going to turn out?" but I was really surprised at the end how great the story was. I think that this series may be even better than the first three. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE Brides of the West, February 26, 2006
I am reading the three novels in one book, and I'm on my fourth time reading it. My little sister is sick and tired of hearing me talk about Glory, Ruth, and Patience. I think they are so funny and sweet I can't put it down.

Glory, an orphan of sorts herself, flees a disagreeable home and town, only to find she really doesn't fit in much anyplace. After Poppy dies, she is sought by wicked Uncle Amos. Fleeing, she has to defend her virtue, bearing the guilt of what she left behind. If there is anything wagon master Lincoln does not need, it is another girl to have to care for and transport to his final destination. Stubborn, unlearned and unkempt, Glory is determined to make it on her own. Mystery, action and romance happen in spite of Glory, certainly not because of her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stick with the trilogy!, November 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Glory (Brides of the West 1872, No. 4 / HeartQuest) (Paperback)
I did not know that the trilogy had been extended until I found this book. It should have stayed a trilogy. The plot is flat and rather uneventful. The previous characters are barely mentioned. I had to force myself to finish this book. Check out the first three. They were wonderful. I guess you only ride a horse for so long before it goes lame.
