Book Description

Over 40 years, Bruce Springsteen has released 17 studio albums, almost all of them ambitious and socially relevant - and among the greatest records ever released.

But by a process of elimination, one of them has to be “the best” – and veteran newspaper columnist and Bruce blogger Peter Chianca has taken on the task of determining which one.

The author analyzes eight of Springsteen’s most enduring albums – including one or two that may surprise you – and then crowns one of them his finest work.

Whether you agree with his pick or not, 'Glory Days' is bound to remind you of the special elements that drew you to Springsteen’s work in the first place, whether it was in 1974 or 2012.

Peter Chianca is an award-winning newspaper columnist and editor who’s written about popular culture and media for more than two decades. Since 2007, his blog, Blogness on the Edge of Town (blogs.wickedlocal.com/springsteen), has featured breaking news, commentary, reviews and humor about Bruce Springsteen and other rock music topics. He lives near Boston with his wife, two kids and a half-dozen dogs and cats, at least one of whom is named Bruce.

Endeavour Press is the UK's leading independent publisher of digital books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have! November 14, 2012
Pete Chianca's 'Glory Days:Springsteen's Greatest Albums" is brilliant. Chianca was able to review, summarize and prioritize Bruce Springsteen's canon of music in this book. He provides the reader with an objective, passionate and detailed perspective of Springsteen's studio releases. "Rating" the work of an artist whose creative body defines the musical heritage of Rock n Roll for his generation is a daunting task and one that Chianca's 'Glory Days' does masterfully. Do I agree with his assignment of album priority and omissions 100%, good golly Miss Molly, No! BUT I love reading why and how he made his choices, what did the music do to him, Us and a generation. I love the excitement of reading about Springsteen's music through Chianca's heart. It takes me places I have been before, reminds of where I am now and where I might go someday. There are no winners or losers. I love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for fans from casual to die-hard November 14, 2012
Pete Chianca knows his Springsteen. His thoughtful analysis of several albums and ultimate winnowing-down to decide which one he thinks is truly the "greatest" clearly shows the mark of someone who's loved and lived with these albums for years, but is also a fresh take that made me want to go back and listen to all the albums again. Whether you agree with his ultimate conclusion or not, he makes a good case for it, considering all factors including the music itself and the cultural impact of each album. More casual fans who might not have all these albums will probably be moved to go out and complete their collection; die-hard fans who know all the music by heart will feel as though they've had one of those late-night music-geek conversations with a friend.

The book is a quick read and quite insightful but is lacking on detail. All albums are citiqued in about 3 pages or less, what is written is factual and on point, just wish there had been more to this e-book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read December 7, 2012
This author sure knows what he's talking about. Regardless whether you're a casual fan or a die-hard Springsteen addict you'll enjoy the analysis of some of Springsteen's best albums. Reading made me have to go back and listen to these albums again, if only to compare my thoughts to the author's vision. I enjoyed reading about Springsteen's music through this author's mind's eye. A fun book and a definite must read.

Short and sweet. A must for any Springsteen. The author analyzes 8 studio albums in a meaningful and logical way and then ranks them. Overall, I thought it was a good read.

This book is about my favorite person, Bruce Springsteen, so I loved it from start to finish. Mr. Chianca is very knowledgeable about the albums Bruce has out and discusses them in detail. He writes succinctly and with an original outlook, which was very refreshing.

NO surprises. None. Nope. It's ok. It's not bad. It's non essential. A quick read. The ending is not a surprise. Which is good. And bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deliverance born March 17, 2013
A good complication of albums and songs. All I read makes me more informed about the genius of this man as songwriter, lover of life and humanity. Like so mAny who have been on his bandwagon for so long he takes what I am feeling in my heart and brings those feelings to life in his songs.
