GREAT!! You'll love the dancing.,
This review is from: Glow Ropes - The Rise & Fall of a Bar Mitzvah Emcee (DVD)
Wow, what a fun film. It's such a "New York" story. Growing up on the UWS there were so many of these Bat & Bar Mitvah's. Some as big as a small wedding! This film is a great comedy about the whole party scene.

A Movie not much to Recall,
This review is from: Glow Ropes - The Rise & Fall of a Bar Mitzvah Emcee (DVD)
This movie depicts a sort of the US money-stuffed "Vanity Fair".
Nice music, nice dancing, funny sexy situations occur at a landscape of a total personal disloyalty and New Jersey/New York explicitly embedded behind-a-scene show-business. It is hard to understand what was a story of and why it had climaxed so negatively for talented professionals ending into a miserable subsistence of too many. Easy watching of sexy bodies and money-no-issue indulgencies.

My own Bar Mitzvah was 5 decades ago, yet it still stands out as one of the most memorable events in my life, with both good and bad memories. The "mood" of the Bar Mitzvah Party is captured perfectly. The feelings of urgency, importance, a showing of wealth and social standing or lack there-of.
I remember my own Mother almost hitting the roof when the matzoh balls in the soup were a comfortable, mouthfull sized ball and "fluffy," as opposed to the ones she would make that were the size of golf balls and just about as hard! Every "Event" like these took presidence over all other special ocassions for 24 months prior to the actual event date. The only event that might (I repeat, MIGHT) be more elaborite would be the British Royals planning a corination. The situations represented in this film could easily be understood by people from any ethnic backround. A mach mir michiga (Yiddish: You make me crazy) Enjoy! |
