5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Album, August 1, 2008

I haven't listened to any other Seven Places albums, but that doesn't matter. This is a truly unique, truly God-glorifying album, and you can tell that the intent is not human ambition. Take a look at "Closer to Thee" and "Stay With Me."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album - listen to it straight through, November 7, 2011
This review is from: Glowing (MP3 Download)
This is one of those albums you listen to starting from the begining and go to the end, and every song is great. Man I wish this band would get back together and put out my great music. Lyrics are original and aren't the typical (and predictable) Christian worship songs.

This is by far one of the best worship CDs and worship groups out there.
True, genuine, spirit-filled lyrics and excellent musicianship and melody writing.
All three Seven Places CDs are amazing. I listen to them at least once a day
and are ministered to more each day. Don't pass this group up. If you can,
get your hands on some Psalms Project CDs also from these guys (Seth Gilbert).

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the Seven Places from three years ago, but still an amazing buy!, August 17, 2007

I've been a huge Seven Places fan, I fell in love with the alternative-pop sound of Lonely for the Last Time, and when Hear Us Say Jesus came out I felt let down do to the more worship side, but as I grew in my faith, I found my self slipping in that CD more and more often than the other. The problem was right when I fell deeply in love with their music they broke up.

Imagine my surprise when I'm walking through the store and come across this new CD. I quickly bought it and placed it in my CD player, only to find out this isn't the Seven Places I remember. I actually thought a different group had taken the name, then came the song "Joy of the Lord" which reminded me of what I loved about Seven Places. I realized, as I grew in my faith it seems Seven Places did as well. Now only Seth Gilbert, his friend Demian, and Seth's wife, this album is not the Seven Places you remember at all, but it is a solid worship album. Many knock on Seth for keeping the name Seven Places, but honestly he has some great music to get out there, and more people will pick this CD up this way and I suggest you do as well.

Favorite song on the CD: "You are Able" and "Psalm 117"...and "Joy of the Lord"... okay, okay and "Glowing Hearts"

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the same band at all... But a decent album., June 27, 2007

Seven Places fans probably liked the evolution between their first two albums. This one will likely lose some fans as guitar is now sharing equal time with piano, and the slant is slightly more poppy, although in fairness it is billed as a "worship album" As such it's pretty lightweight, with some occasional strings, bells and lush vocals. It rocks lightly on the first two cuts, which are admittedly pretty catchy. Track 3 displays a heavy Coldplay influence in the bridge, which is the probably the peak of intensity the CD reaches. From there it's a pretty steady mix of contemporary worship songs until the surprising Rise Up, which could almost be considered a country ballad. The disc wraps up with Psalm 46, which may be the strongest "worship" song on the album, with it's repetitive, vocal round nature. It's a pretty decent disc on it's own merit, but the lead singer's voice is the *only* thing that will be familiar to Seven Places fans, for better or worse...
