Zero in on your target
Zero in on your target

Some might call you an enforcer, or perhaps an assassin. Your employers call you Agent. Call it what you like, but when you come right down to it you're just one thing: a contract killer. And you've got plenty of work these days.

No Job Too Dangerous

Some criminals are never meant to see the inside of a courtroom. That's where you come in. Immersed in a sketchy world of mobsters and hardened criminals, you must check in with your contacts and accept secret missions. Informants will feed you information (often for a price). You might be asked to take out a drug kingpin or a rival agent or even capture a target alive.

Once you have your objective, it's time to select the appropriate weapon. Choose from a large inventory of rifles, submachine guns, and sidearms. Then track down the target, zoom in on the scope, take aim, and pull the trigger. Watch out for bodyguards, however--they have guns too. Collect experience points and make sure to keep your health and energy levels up.

The Mean Streets

A graphically rich app, Contract Killer features five extremely life-like environments and 17 different mission stories (a large file download is required for this app). The 3D effects and first-person-shooter viewpoint enhance the experience; you'll feel as if you are actually there on the rooftops, scanning the streets and dodging bullets. Dark alleys, gritty buildings, and blaring sirens in the background add to the realism.

It's All About the Benjamins

Your services do not come cheap, but as an independent contractor you've got expenses to cover. The more missions you complete, the bigger your bank account gets. Those big guns and their ammo can get expensive, but you have to have the right tools for the job. You'll also need food and drinks as well as medical supplies to patch yourself up when you take a bullet. Visit the game's Store to stock up on these items, and if you're running low on credits you can go online and purchase more (using real money).

Complete missions to unlock more weapons, informants, and other goodies. Record your high scores and achievements on OpenFeint. And remember to keep your head down--or the killer could become the victim.

PLEASE NOTE: This app lets you purchase digital content using actual money. On Kindle Fire, you can configure parental controls from the device Settings menu, and then selecting Parental Controls. On Android devices, you can configure in-app purchasing parental controls from the settings menu within the Amazon Appstore.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, but only if you're willing to spend real $ July 5, 2011

Test device: Samsung Epic, Android 2.2 official

I've installed and played several Glu titles, and I've been rather happy with each of them. Contract Killer is mostly no exception to this. Great graphics, sound effects, soundtrack, and gameplay. All very fun. Open Feint is running, enabling you to compare against others and compete to be the best. One thing that bugged me though is the heavy about of in game item purchasing. As in, a good amount of in items that can only be purchased with game credits. Admittedly, Glu does allow for earning credit by completing offers, but there is no way to get enough credits together for purchasing large weapons. While you can convert credits to game cash, you can't convert the other way around. To give you an idea, the largest weapon in the will set you back ~$30 if you purchase enough credits for it. The second issue I had with Contract Killer is that it really messed with my phone. The first time I played, the whole phone locked up and needed a battery pull. After that, it ran ok for 5-6 sessions, and then did it all over again. To date, Contract Killer is the only game that has done this to my phone on a consistent basis.

:EDIT:
After a few days of playing, I think I see the issue with Contract Killer. Even with notifications turned off, it runs a process called AirMailService in the background, which I've seen grow from a measly 3.7MB of memory to over 90MB. Yikes!!!

:EDIT 2:
After a good amount of play, I've given up on this title. When the contacts started asking for credits to give you jobs, as well as the requirement to purchase game credits to get access to better weapons sealed this game's fate. I've also dropped my rating a few notches for this.

Then download this game. If, on the other hand, you prefer your "free" game to NOT require spending money to advance through the contracts and acquire better weapons, avoid this one.

And if you don't have high speed wireless, be prepared to wait a long time... this requires a ~260MB download.

1.0 out of 5 stars The "credit" system is a scam August 26, 2011

I've had this game for nearly a month now and while it started out entertaining, it quickly became apparent you won't really be able to get the best weapons w/out installing their advertised games. Since the games took nothing cept time I figured I'd give that a shot. I also went through the Netflix sign up process but I was never credited for signing up. Their advertisement company Tapjoy gave me over a week of nonsense run around where I corresponded with more than four different people (all asking for the same stuff I had already sent in) and then they say that I abandoned the sign up process and never finished it. Well now, how in the heck was I going to get an email from Netflix saying "thank you for signing up with Netflix" if I didn't follow through the process from start to end? Total load of crap from their ad company Tapjoy and Glu Mobile doesn't do anything to help, they just send you right over to Tapjoy again. I'd avoid this game and their other one Eternity Warriors since they're built to be massive time sinks unless you spend real cash to get gems / credits.

This is a great sniper game. It has decent graphics, and new interesting stories (updated often) as well as a vast array of different weapons. A must-get for all Glu fans.
