The opera in this recording, taking from a Danish broadcast, is a bit shortened. But don't hesitate. Flagstad sings with the utmost beauty and this set is much, much better then her recording on Decca. The Decca version was made when Mme Flagstad was very ill and with high fever. Here she sings with her usual beautiful, velvetlike voice. Great bonuses indeed: Wesendoncklieder and - a rare recording of the Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde. The Wagner in poor sound, but Alceste is fine.
