1994s 'Glum' was to be Giant Sand's largest record and in order to make it so, Howe Gelb invited everyone along to the party. This carnival help create Giant Sand's best record to date and 'Glum' is now proudly reissued by Fire. Howe Gelb explains Glum's story, "This was our best record for a long time. It had Malcolm Burn producing it with me and it was done up at Daniel Lanois' studio in New Orleans.At the moment this record was due to be released, the label shut down its operations and it got lost. but these things have a life of their own. (I wrote 'faithful' for Marianne, whom I just met through our label rep, Kate Hyman. When she heard it she said: "but Howe, where is the melody ?") ... and that's the story of my life." "Giant Sand is a mood," says Howe' of Giant Sand. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

Giant Sand is a band that has not been credited for it's contribution to music.
They have amazing albums and Glum is no different.

Its a great album and it's a pity that it is not available anywhere. If you are interested you can visit giant sand's official site and purchase : UnsungGlum
It's the album that most people really want so Giant Sand sell it only in the site plus the cd includes 3-4 bonus tracks.
If you like Giant Sand buy this!
If you are new to them try Chore of Enchantment.
Howe Gelb (head), also recorded an album with the name :
Band of Blacky Ranchette, which is amazing , and also an album with Lisa Germano singing called OP8.
