This book is really a winner. I feel smarter after reading it! It is a true inspirational story of a solider learning to cope with Celiac Disease during deployment in Afghanistan. For those who cannot relate to that alone, it is an insightful story of overcoming the odds. It has a positive outlook and message. The story is easy to read and extremely engaging. I couldn't put it down!!!!

Incredible! I bought this book purely because I have Celiac Disease but Captain Andrasik's message can be applied to anyone overcoming a hardship. This book is a must buy for any Celiac in your family or anyone needing an inspirational jump start.

This is a concise, very well written book that tells how a Soldier with Celiac Disease coped on deployment to Afghanistan. The author does not preach, he merely tells his story in an interesting way while educating us. And he sneaks in a little bit of humor! Gives great insight into the life of a Soldier trying to serve his country to the best of his ability. Thought provoking.

Just finished this book and let me say, I couldn't put it down! One of my children has Celiac's Disease, which was my inspiration to read it. However, this is a great book for anyone, GF or not. It is an extrememly inspirational story. The struggles he had to go through just to EAT while serving his country are mind boggling. I hope that those in charge in the military read this book and make changes to the meal plans for our wonderful service men and women who suffer from dietary issues. I find it mind boggling that they offer vegan and kosher meals - which are diets of choice - and not foods for people who truly have allergies, food sensitivities or full blown Celiac's. My daughter with Celiac's is reading it now - she is 11 and really enjoying it too. Thank you for writing this!

I have just finished reading this book. I had no idea of the difficult diet restrictions of someone with a Celiac allergy. This book should be read by individuals with a Celiac allergy to give them a sense of camaraderie and to give those without this allergy an appreciation of how difficult a gluten free diet becomes in daily life. A restrictive diet is very difficult while serving this country especially in a combat zone. The solider is fighting two enemies - our foe and his own military food supply.

Captain Andrasik's account of living with the challenges of celiac in Afghanistan while serving his country is interesting on so many levels. The book is a fast and enjoyable read and inspiring. His proactive and positive approach to managing celiac is a great example to anyone learning to navigate a gluten free diet or any other challenge. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely fantastic story! Following a gluten-free diet is tough enough, but the struggle to maintain a strict gluten-free diet while deployed to Afghanistan in service to our country is extremely gripping and inspirational.

I recommend this book to everyone on a gluten-free diet.

Some great anecdotes of his experiences.

I think this would be interesting to anyone - not just those with celiac or food sensitivities.
