This is a great gluten-free cookbook for those new to eating gluten-free or ones who have been at it for awhile who would like ideas to cut the costs or who want new recipes. The beginning section includes basics of eating gluten-free, ways to do so on a budget, and suggestions for stocking a gluten-free pantry. Then there are tons of recipes with mouth-watering pictures and little notes from the authors. With recipes like Sweet & Spicy Pork Roast, Easy Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Pot Pie (including a way to make with leftovers), Cheeseburger Soup, Bomb Breakfast Burritos, and Pao de Queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread), you are sure to find many you enjoy. Plus, there are many scrumptious desserts like Granny Smith Apple Crisp, Blueberry Turnovers, Chocolate Caramel Toffee Cake, and "Whatever Cake." Then there is a section of traditional holiday recipes made gluten-free, such as Green Bean Casserole with Homemade Fried Onions.

Of course, I cannot try every recipe before I review a cookbook, but we have enjoyed all the ones we had a chance to make, and I am excited about making many more of these. I know this book is going to get a lot of use at our house, and I would highly recommend it if you eat gluten-free or as a gift for someone you love who does.

When folks learn they have to eat gluten-free, they often think they must reinvent their eating entirely. But it’s just not true! Gluten-Free on a Budget reminds us that habits such as buying in bulk, baking at home and striving to eat more natural, whole foods, are good rules of thumb whether you’re gluten-free or not. Candice and Tana do a great job of demystifying the gluten-free diet with easy tips like these, and also share the home-style recipes you’ve been craving, made in delicious new gluten-free ways.

Chandice was also recently interviewed on my radio show,. The Gluten Free Voice with Jules, and shared many more tips and great information on living gluten free on a budget.

I was provided with a copy of this fun cookbook for an honest review.

Seriously, I haven't tabbed so many recipes in one cookbook in a long time! I've marked to try: Three Cheese White Sauce Lasagna, Taco Casserole, Navajo Tacos, Hearty Oat Bread, Peanut Butter Bars and more!
Love that these are all family friendly meals.
I made the Flaky & Sweet Almond Danish and oh boy, was that good! I hid it from my family and ate the whole pan myself! Highly recommend! Not gritty, no weird texture - just amazing texture and flavor!

I initially bought this book because I was desperate for a GOOD cupcake recipe for my 4 year old daughter's birthday party that everyone could enjoy. It was a hit. My extremely "I don't like gluten -free" 16 year old couldn't pass up seconds on the waffles. I just finished making for the second time peanut butter bars that are so much better than any that a school lunch lady has made.

My 4 year old is wheat free and so I've been trying to find recipes the whole family and our friends could enjoy. So far, most of what I have tried has been the baked goods--that is the hardest category of foods for those going GF--and I have been pleasantly surprised. The authors have worked hard to get both flavor AND texture right.

I would highly recommend this cookbook to any one looking to go GF. The recipes are for real foods that real people eat and not following some fad.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chandice last fall and now have the honor of calling her my friend. I instantly clicked with this lovely lady and the sweet little baby girl, who was then still in her cute belly! Chandice is a ball of personality and endless happiness! If you visited the gluten free section of any grocery store you know that sometimes the prices can be high when purchasing gluten free items. This book is a great resource on how to make delicious meals and to keep that budget in place. This books provides resourceful tips and recipes. You will find mouth watering recipes for starters, salads, soups, sides, main dishes, breads and rolls, desserts and more. These ladies provide tested and proved kitchen tips to help your gluten free kitchen be a success. Whether you want to learn more about gluten free basics, stocking your pantry or meal planning, they’ve got you covered! One of my favorite parts is they provide a sample weekly meal plan and grocery list. This is a great resource for starting your gluten free kitchen! (or fine tuning it!)

The authors of Gluten-Free on a Budget and I agree on many things. Among them; gluten-free should taste amazing and PlanetBoxes are THE best (was that a subtle plug? Really, they are). This cookbook is more than a gluten-free cookbook. It is a survival guide, a handbook of tips, and a help-me-get-some-comfort-food-on-the-table-fast recipe resource. These two moms know the meaning of busy and the necessity of fast and have created a slew of EASY and QUICK gluten-free meals, treats, and staples. You open this book and you feel “I can do this.” If gluten is all you need to avoid, then this would be a fantastic addition to your gluten-free library.
