5.0 out of 5 stars GFCF? Allergies? Picky Eaters? NO PROBLEM
My child (with asd) has numerous food intolerances in addition to gluten and casein. I am often frustrated with special diet cookbooks because they use ingredients that we can't use, and the cookbook authors don't provide information about acceptable substitutes. And my kids are picky. The Autism Mom Stephanie Hemenway understands. And she's written a cookbook to share...

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointed
If you're looking for a first book of gluten-free recipes, this is probably OK. I was very diappointed in the number and variety of recipes for the price of the book

5.0 out of 5 stars GFCF? Allergies? Picky Eaters? NO PROBLEM, September 28, 2009
This review is from: The Autism Mom Cooks Gluten-Free Casein-Free Classic American Cuisine (Paperback)
And she's written a cookbook to share with the world some kid-friendly, picky-eater friendly, family-friendly recipes for families like mine. Most of the recipes are naturally soy and nut free, too, and Hemenway offers substitutions for nuts, soy, and corn when applicable. I counted 70 GFCF recipes, all family "regulars", kid friendly. Some of the recipes I would never in a million years tried to make (mac-n-cheez, for example). The cookbook gives readers recipes for snacks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, side dishes, breads, and desserts. I like a cookbook with color photos. I hesitate to try a recipe without a photo (it's a Pennyism). Hemenway provides a beautiful photo for almost every recipe. After being so tired of the same handful of meals with a desire to find more recipes that I can make for all of us, I have renewed hope from this cookbook. I cannot wait to start cooking!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Finally Yummy Gluten Free Food, August 31, 2009
This review is from: The Autism Mom Cooks Gluten-Free Casein-Free Classic American Cuisine (Paperback)
As the husband of a "Gluten-Free" wife, I've eaten my share of of crappy Gluten Free foods! Finally, someone created a cookbook that focuses on "Taste" first not just Gluten Free!. While I have not tried out everything in the book I can say that everything tastes like regular, normal yummy food. Nothing weird or feels like sand in your mouth. Now my wife won't have to feel like she is missing out when she sees people eating biscuits! Thanks to the Author for creating recipes that we can all eat and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Diner Food!!!, September 28, 2009
This review is from: The Autism Mom Cooks Gluten-Free Casein-Free Classic American Cuisine (Paperback)
I'm an autism Mom too. We've been on the GFCF diet forever. I've already made several recipes from this book. All good. No funny taste. Looks like "real" food. I can tell this will be a "go-to" cookbook in my kitchen.
