About the Author
A Registered Dietitian, Shelley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Saskatchewn and completed her dietetic internship at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. For the past 21 years Shelley has helped thousands of people change poor eating habits and manage a variety of disease conditions through good nutrition. She specializes in nutrition counseling for gastrointestinal disorders such as celiac disease, food allergies and intolerances, heart disease and diabetes.
Shelley is a frequent guest speaker on television and radio. She has delivered numerous lectures and workshops to the general public, physicians and other health professionals, as well as organizations and associations.
She has co-authored the Celiac Disease Section in the Manual of Clinical Dietetics, 6th edition, American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada, as well as sections of the Canadian Celiac Association's "Celiac Disease Needs a Diet for Life Handbook" and "A Guide for the Celiac Diabetic".
Continuing to be involved in the Dietitians of Canada, Shelley serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Canadian Celiac Association and the Dietitian Advisory Board of Gluten-Free Living Magazine. She is very active in her community and church. A committed volunteer, she has chaired numerous conferences and special events. She is also an accomplished musician and enjoys playing piano and electric keyboard. Shelley lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
