5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I just got this book in and it is fantastic. All of it sounds tempting and delicious! I have finished reading it cover to cover and passed it along to my Mother, who also suffers from Celiac, and she also likes this book. Lots of new and different ideas from the ordinary GF cookbook.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very different, vegan. would give 3 1/2 stars
I own a lot of gluten free cookbooks and this one is the most "different" of the group. I like that it has out of the ordinary recipes. Most of them work well, a few are a little heavy. I think this book would work well for those who are vegan. I don't like the use of soy milk in her recipes (Personally, I feel soy is unhealthful), but it is easy to convert to any type...

This review is from: Gluten-Free Gourmet Desserts and Baked Goods (Paperback)
Gluten-Free French Desserts And Baked Goods by Valerie Cupillard is a creative, profusely illustrated and wonderfully presented compendium of easy, step-by-step, "kitchen cook friendly" recipes for gluten-free meals and delicious sweets. With its thoroughly "user-friendly" layout of each individual recipe, Gluten-Free French Desserts And Baked Goods dishes range from Hazelnut Cake with Almond Cream; Chestnut English Cream; and Lemon Brioche; to Quinoa Bread with Tumeric; Autumn Shortbread Cookies; and Amaranth Snow-Topped Cake. A popular addition to the cookbook shelf of anyone having to have a gluten-free diet for themselves or a loved one, Gluten-Free French Desserts And Baked Goods is very highly recommended as a simply superb collection of wholesome and flavorful desserts with a quite special, French cuisine flair.

4.0 out of 5 stars my daughter's special diet ..., May 27, 2007
This review is from: Gluten-Free Gourmet Desserts and Baked Goods (Paperback)
How wonderful that this book is helping to open our minds to a better way of taking care of our health in a fun way.
I have learned so much about alternative (and much healthier!) products by reading and preparing recipes from this book.
My 12 year old daughter thinks it's great that she can have a special diet and still prepare and enjoy fancy French treats and even share them with others.
KUDOS!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Very different, vegan. would give 3 1/2 stars, February 3, 2010

I own a lot of gluten free cookbooks and this one is the most "different" of the group. I like that it has out of the ordinary recipes. Most of them work well, a few are a little heavy. I think this book would work well for those who are vegan. I don't like the use of soy milk in her recipes (Personally, I feel soy is unhealthful), but it is easy to convert to any type of milk you prefer. Also, the ingredients she uses are not always easily available and she uses a lot of chestnut flour which some might not like (strong). In many recipes She uses "whole food" type ingredients, raw sugar, brown rice flour etc...but she mixes that with marjarine?? The photos are good.
Overall this book is pretty and has some unusual recipes but it is not very practical and if your looking for classic type gluten free recipes (american) you won't be turning to this book often. I gave it 3 1/2 stars but if your vegan you'd probably give it a 5. The photos are good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, Different & Delicious, July 7, 2010

Everything I've tried in this book has turned out well. I especially like that the recipes are for the most part very simple and fast to prepare. I can whip up a delicious breakfast or snack food in minutes - something that is not always easy to do on a gluten-free diet. The food is not only yummy but it is also nutritious. Moreover, there are lots of completely original ideas here - not just the old standard fare with gluten-free alternative ingredients. These are new ideas that waken up the palate! The recipes are easily modified too - I've replaced sugar with agave in most of them and they turn out just great (3/4 cup of agave replaces 1 cup of sugar). I've already recommended this book to my gluten-free friends and purchased my own copy after reading the library edition. I am very grateful to have found this book and I'm pretty sure you'll feel that way too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent selection of European-style gluten free recipes, December 17, 2009

This book used to be called Gluten Free French Desserts and Baked Goods - the desserts are very much in the French tradition (for instance there are six variations on clafoutis). If you're on a gluten-free diet or bake for someone who is, and you enjoy making something different, I highly recommend this book. I've tried a number of the recipes and they've all been delicious.
