5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely...just wish it was a little healthier.
I really loves the things that I've made with this flour (the pull-apart dinner rolls, chocolate chip cookies and bread). The dinner rolls had the density of a biscuit but the look of a roll. They were really fantastic for Thanksgiving, AND they heat up well. The chocolate chip cookies were tasty as was the bread.

I'm reading Wheat Belly and am trying to go Gluten Free so was considering this product. Reading the reviews here alerted me to read the ingredient list and I see that this contains more Tapioca and Potato starch than almond flour which the book explains is actually worse for you due to their GI than the wheat you're trying to avoid. Misleading when the name of the...

They were really fantastic for Thanksgiving, AND they heat up well. The chocolate chip cookies were tasty as was the bread.

Pro's;
Easy to store (no need to have 15 different bags of flours and starches in the cabinet)
Tasty results
Even gluten eating people thought the rolls were tasty
Good price
NO ADDED SUGAR!

Con's;
First ingredient is white rice flour and the LAST ingredient is Almond flour
Has potato starch which tends to hurt my stomach

I probably won't use this very often as I do have other choices but this definitely will be my go to flour mix when I don't want to measure out 9 different kinds of flours OR when I'm making rolls for special occasions (because they seriously were amazing!) I think if you are cooking for celiac kids (or someone has just gone gluten free) then this mix is a MUST have.

Edited 12.21.10 After almost a month of using this flour I have to admit it's my go to flour. If a recipe calls for 3 cups of flour I only use 2 1/2 and add 1/2 a cup of teff flour for a little more nutrition. I love that I don't have a million canisters of every type of flour known to man sitting in my cupboard/fridge and that I've had nothing but sucess with everything I've made using this flour blend. Another perk it's cheaper than another amazing bread mix I was using and doesn't have sorghum flour or lots of sugar added! I'm almost embarassed to add that I went through BOTH smaller bags in record time so I just ordered 4 of the 4lb bags!

4.0 out of 5 stars New to Almond Flour, August 24, 2010

I am Gluten Sensitive always in search of ways to expand my menu choices. Used this to make breaded chicken tenders, they were very good, not gritty as with rice flour. Used recipe from "The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook ". Everyone loved it.

I do not have a gluten intolerance, but I bake for several people who do. I have made my own flour belnds, bought other flour blends, and this is by far my new favorite! I have used it for cookies, cakes, and pancakes and all have been excellent.

When trying to bake and cook for a mixed crowd, GFCF and 'regular' - this is the best mix. It tastes great, and mixes up recipes like real flour.

I am gluten intolerant and have been gluten free for 2 months. I really like this flour blend. I made brownies with this from a recipe in her baking cookbook. I am very happy with both purchases. My family and I enjoyed the brownies, they were good. Also a gluten free friend liked it too.

This flour is wonderful!! Gluten free mama's website is great and you can find easy and tasty recipes. The hamburger buns are a family favorite. Also used to make great pancakes, donuts and pizza.

This flour is very nice in pancakes. A little goes a long way. I also used it in place of flour in making Apple Crisp, I will try other uses eventually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best gf all-purpose blend, September 10, 2010
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama, Mama's Almond Blend Flour, All Purpose Flour, 32-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
My sister and I are gluten-free, and we both dislike a lot of the gluten-free flours. I was delighted when a friend served me some pancakes that contained this flour - it tasted mostly normal! It isn't gritty like some gf flours, and it works in just about everything. We both feel like this is the closest to good old wheat flour as we are going to get.

This flour is easy to use and is a perfect pair to her cookbook. It's already a nice blend so you do not have to have several flours on hand! Just the one.
