I really loves the things that I've made with this flour (the pull-apart dinner rolls, chocolate chip cookies and bread). The dinner rolls had the density of a biscuit but the look of a roll. They were really fantastic for Thanksgiving, AND they heat up well. The chocolate chip cookies were tasty as was the bread.

Pro's;
Easy to store (no need to have 15 different bags of flours and starches in the cabinet)
Tasty results
Even gluten eating people thought the rolls were tasty
Good price
NO ADDED SUGAR!

Con's;
First ingredient is white rice flour and the LAST ingredient is Almond flour
Has potato starch which tends to hurt my stomach

I probably won't use this very often as I do have other choices but this definitely will be my go to flour mix when I don't want to measure out 9 different kinds of flours OR when I'm making rolls for special occasions (because they seriously were amazing!) I think if you are cooking for celiac kids (or someone has just gone gluten free) then this mix is a MUST have.

Edited 12.21.10 After almost a month of using this flour I have to admit it's my go to flour. If a recipe calls for 3 cups of flour I only use 2 1/2 and add 1/2 a cup of teff flour for a little more nutrition. I love that I don't have a million canisters of every type of flour known to man sitting in my cupboard/fridge and that I've had nothing but sucess with everything I've made using this flour blend. Another perk it's cheaper than another amazing bread mix I was using and doesn't have sorghum flour or lots of sugar added! I'm almost embarassed to add that I went through BOTH smaller bags in record time so I just ordered 4 of the 4lb bags!

I'm reading Wheat Belly and am trying to go Gluten Free so was considering this product. Reading the reviews here alerted me to read the ingredient list and I see that this contains more Tapioca and Potato starch than almond flour which the book explains is actually worse for you due to their GI than the wheat you're trying to avoid. Misleading when the name of the product is fifth on the ingredients list.

I was completely satisfied with this product up until the last couple deliveries. I started noticing that all my baked goods no longer turned out with the same soft texture as in the past. Everything started coming out tough and hard. My recipes are all the same. Turns out that the ingredients in Mama's Almond Blend was different. The amount of almond flour in the mix had been decreased and is mostly rice flour now. I was pissed. This is not a cheap product. If you're gonna switch to mostly cheaper ingredients, at least give the consumer a heads up that you're doing it and reflect that in the price by lowering it! I am a label reader but nobody reads them every single time on a product that they've been buying for years with no problems from a company that they've built up trust in. Trust being the key word here. I won't pay $17.08 for rice flour. You cannot bake edible gluten-free products with mostly rice flour anyway. And good blends are hard to find. Another company playing switcharoo with our food. Dishonest. Canceled my subscription today.

My mother has Celiac and I am now gluten free as well. She endured the years of nasty recipes and gritty flours. I made her some cookies with this lovely product. Her response was, "This is even better than regular flour and I no longer feel deprived."
I've baked for her for several years and tasted a wide variety of items. This GF flour blend is amazing to use. No longer a pile of different flour bags in the pantry to mix together - this one replaces all of that. With the addition of Guar Gum or Xanthan Gum, this flour can easily replace regular wheat flour in most of your recipes....and Gluten Free Mama has a wonderful assortment of recipes on her site to use for free, if you don't want to buy her cookbook right off the bat. This is not a Almond Flour as you might see in healthfood stores, but rather a nice blend of GF flours with Almond flour added for enhancement of flavor and protein. It's a blend of just the right ratio of flours.
I dreaded going gluten free after watching my mom be disappointed for years - little did I know this amazing flour would be on the market now and be able to help us both in our daily diets.
Thank you Gluten Free Mama!

I have been on a gluten free diet for the past couple of years. During that time I have tried the good, the bad and the truly awful. I don't know how much money has been thrown out over the years, due to the horrible flavors and textures! Thank goodness for the Gluten Free Mama line of flour and mixes! Everything I have tried has been wonderful and hard to distinguish from the wheat based product. They don't have the grittiness of most of the gluten free products on the market. I use the flour blend to make bread (when I am motivated ;-) ) to use as breading for fried foods and for all the recipes I had used rice flour for. I highly recommend this entire line of products - you won't be sorry!
