5.0 out of 5 stars A gift from the heart
Every recipe I have tried from this well-designed and informative cookbook has been absolutely delicious, especially the rich chocolate truffle brownies and the blueberry yogurt muffins. The texture is moist and melt-in-your mouth yummy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I though it was
I love her GF Coconut blend so I thought this would be a great complement to the flour blend that I buy. I was a bit disappointed. The majority of the recipes that I saw when going through the book was for the Almond blend flour (I don't buy that one) and there was only a few that tagged you could substitute with the coconut flour but you had to add additional liquids...

I believe this author went not just the extra mile to help her gluten-intolerant daughter thrive, but went an extra 100 miles to experiment and create quality, convenient gluten-free flours for a reasonable price. Now everyone can be blessed by her hard work.
This cookbook is a very worthwhile gift from the heart of a loving mother.

5.0 out of 5 stars need to eat, November 11, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
I have been baking for 30 years, now that we are wheat free family of 7, I find mixing one blend after another takes time away from all the other things I have to do and lots of refrigerator space. That being said , the cookbook is basic, the recipes , good. I have made several of them. There is lot of advice , that if you are new to this , would be helpful and lets face it , when you can't have wheat , you need to be able to cook. The flour blend is worth every cent, and really , I did not think it was more expensive than buying all the other flours and mixing the blends. I think everyone who sells food and cookbooks is making a profit, or at least hope they are, so I am not certain what the objections the other reviewer had,had to do with the cookbook. ( Even people with sick kids need to pay the bills). This lady has done a great job with the blend. It is packaged in a nice zipper bag , with an exp. date .. ..and I use it fast enough that it doesn't have to be refrigerated. I also have used the blend in other recipes , with great results, so for us , this is a winner. (I can't wait until Amazon decides to carry it ).

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely pleased with book and flour blends, July 30, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
I am so pleased with this book and the recipes. I have already passed it on to friends and shared it with my local health food store.

While I understand the point a previous poster made concerning the use of the author's flour blends in the recipes, I never felt the author was pushing her own products. It makes complete sense that she can't guarantee the outcome if you use something different. However, she NEVER condemns using other mixes. I felt the whole point of the book was to help make gluten-free living easier. I am very thankful she is producing premixed flour blends. I am all for finding products that make gluten-free living easier. In fact, the owner of the health food store is hoping to stock the flour blends. She said there is a definite market and they would fly off the shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Filling a huge need, June 27, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
The "Gluten Free Mama's" cookbook is amazing. How wonderful to finally have recipes that are not just gluten free but taste like much more than cardboard. These recipes are so delicious you will want to bake them, eat them and serve them to your family and friends even if you aren't gluten intolerant. Besides the fact that they are delicious, the detailed directions on how to prepare and bake them are incredibly helpful as baking gluten free is a science in itself.
Thank you Rachel & Billie for your gift to all of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST gluten free baking I've found!, November 16, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
Rachel (the gluten free mama)'s recipes are simply the best GF I have found anywhere. The recipes are exact- so there is no guess work or worrying. The food is wonderful- you simply can't believe it is GF. My 6 year old is thrilled- he feels like we are eating 'normal' food, which for a child is such a big part of having a positive GF experience. You definitely can use other flour mixes, but I wouldn't. I have tried them all and this mix is amazing- both taste and texture. With three Celiacs in the house, I am the only one who can have gluten and I used to head to the local bakery on my own for a treat. With The Gluten Free Mama's cookbook I no longer feel the need- we all eat gluten free all the time. This cookbook has truly made the biggest difference to our family in our transition to the GF world. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars NEEDED, June 29, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
I have 2 adult children who are gluten sensitive. In addition I have a home-based nutrition company. So many people continue to suffer as my children did in growing up. This cookbook comes with specific directions that are easy to follow for success. I especially like the convenience of obtaining the mixes. What a blessing for busy people. For me as a Mom it was so time consuming to prepare food. Along with my business the recommendation of this book will be a priority. MARILYN ROTERT KOCH HAYDEN,ID

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this cookbook!, September 7, 2007
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
My husband was diagnosed with celiac in August 2006. I have bought many gluten-free cookbooks since than, but this is the best cookbook ever. I love that the recipes in here are for everyday cooking, my other books had such exotic recipes that my family would not eat them, nor did I want to take the time to make them. This book is well worth the money

Gluten Free Mama does it again. What I love about this book is all of the recipes are simple. Very few ingredients are needed for each recipe and they all are easy to find ingredients. This is a great first gluten free book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gluten-Free Mama's cookbook, May 15, 2009

I respect the religious conviction of the author and it does not deter or add, for myself, to the usability of the recipes. I would just have liked to know that it had so many Christian recitations in it before buying it as a gift for a friend who is not. The recipes are usable and I have purchased the flour mixes that she sells for myself and friends who are gluten sensitive and found them of good quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-have recipe book!, July 9, 2009
This review is from: Gluten Free Mama's Best Baking Recipes (Paperback)
When I first learned I could no longer eat wheat due to an allergy, I was totally bummed. After all, my mom's homemade bread is one of my favorite things! Enter into the picture "Gluten Free Mama." This recipe book is one of the best I have seen (and I have seen many on this topic!) It is written in an easy-to-use manner and the layout is great. My favorite thing about this book is that the authors' faith shines through on every page. The recipes are good too - ones that are good to eat! I would HIGHLY recommend this book to not only those who must avoid wheat and/or gluten, but to everyone who likes to bake or make delicious food items. Now I am just waiting for the "Egg-Free Mama" recipe book to come out...
