Celiac Sufferer says...,
This review is from: The Gluten-free Guide to Vegetarian Recipes (Paperback)
This is an important book for several reasons. 1) It doesn't rely on eggs, as so many gluten-free books do. Unfortunately, many people with food sensitivities also have problems with eggs (migraines, etc.). 2) It includes a cornucopia of International recipes, such as African, Latin, Greek, etc. as well as the usual European mix (even some Eastern European dishes show up), that should be interesting not only to gluten-free diners, but to omnivorous diners looking for a creative flair, also.

This cookbook is informative, a well written introduction, however it is so cheaply made the binder broke within the first week. Now the recipes are not held together by a binder just loose. It is just so cheaply made I can't believe I paid $[...] for it. If I saw it a bookstore I would have never bought it. It looks so homemade a $[...] cookbook at best. There are no concise instructions how to cook vegetables. There are no photographs either. That being said, there are some unique, healthy recipes. This cookbook was just okay.

Good addition to the Celiac's library,
This review is from: The Gluten-free Guide to Vegetarian Recipes (Paperback)
First, I must say, the introduction is brilliant and sums up in a few pages what it took me about six months to discover. I wish I had been handed it in pamphlet form the day of my diagnosis as it would have saved me countless hours trying to replace gluten-based foods in my diet rather than focusing on what is naturally gluten-free. As for the recipes, they are simply written, use just a few ingredients, and are easy to follow, all very important for many Celiacs who realize they need to learn to cook if they are going to thrive. Absent is the "foodie-intimidation" factor present in many other gluten-free cookbooks. My only complaint is that there aren't more recipes.

I got all of the books this author, Ian Finn, had to offer and they are all really great. In this book he includes some interesting information about his life in recovery from suffering with Celiac disease, there are pictures and great veggie tips. The recipes are from around the world but can be made regional with local veggies. I have reviews on his other books as well.

The book was small, but loaded with great information, no repeats of recipes we all know. I loved the writing style and tips the author gave. It really sparked some new ideas and I have been using it quite a bit.
