Outstanding pie crust!!

Good flavor but a little bit more hassle to make up the dough than I would like.
Maura
Better to piece it together rather than trying for one large round.

Not only does this mix taste as good as a pie crust should, IT'S BETTER! It has a terrific almost nutty flavor that enhances what you are filling it with, rather than being as pland as cardboard. Don't expect people to leave the crust! And don't expect this to be slimming ;-) Admittedly, it's probably not what you want if you aren't willing to put the time in. However, if you are like me, and just indulge on really special occasions, particularly Thanksgiving and Christmas when we love to be nostalgic (mmmm pumpkin pie)you must use this mix. I suggest making the entire batch even if you only need the bottom crust, because it can be frozen.

Since I developed Celiac Disease almost 10 years ago, the product selection has skyrocketed beyond belief which is very very good for the must be gluten free crowd. But with all of the new innovations and products, this pie crust mix is still the best. You add vinegar and egg and cold water as I do in my non-gf pie crust and except for a slightly different texture, it tastes exactly like a very good pie crust should. You need to be creative when rolling out, however. Better to piece it together rather than trying for one large round.

Making the holiday pies was always my job...and I did it well! Being gluten free created a special challenge. The crust mix makes four individual crusts. The recipe called for a combination of butter and traditional baking shortening. I used all butter.
The crust is difficult to handle and works best if rolled out and then put back in the refrigerator before making the pie. Both the apple and the cherry pies turned out well. The taste, however, is much different from a traditional crust. This is the first foray into a gluten free crust. Perhaps there are other solution which yield a better flavor.

Outstanding pie crust!! Makes two pie crust. My son is gluten-free. I wanted him to be able to enjoy pie at Christmas. I made this crust for both a coconut pie and a breakfast quiche. So very good, no one knew they were qluten-free. I will use this mix EVERY time I make a crust!

You are showing the old label in this ad. Are you selling old stock or have you just not updated your site? With either the old or new label this is the best GF pie crust you can buy. I love it & so do my non-celiac friends.

For Thanksgiving, I went on a crusade to find the perfect, most normal GF pie crust. Several pies were failures (don't use bean flour for a pie crust!!!)

But I really appreciated this pie crust mix. I followed the directions on the back (which called for vinegar, eggs and butter). I kept all of the ingredients in the fridge so that they would all be very cold. After I mixed them all together (which I mainly used my hands) I made 4 balls and put them in the fridge. After letting them sit in the fridge for an hour, I put balls between two pieces of parchment paper and used a rolling pin to roll them.

I found that this crust was the most like real dough. It was able to be rolled and able to be put on the pie easily. It was too delicate to make a lattice crust on top. Before the dough was baked, you could still taste a slight vinegar taste which wasn't awesome. But after the dough was baked, you couldn't notice it. The dough didn't change the baking time at all.

The end result was a really tasty pie. The only real downside to this dough was that it had a grainy texture that wasn't entirely enjoyable, but that wasn't noticeable unless you were looking for it and tasting it carefully. Also this pie crust says that it makes 4 crusts, it doesn't really. It makes a good 2 and a half pie crusts.

I would use this again for my GF pie crust needs!
