As the go to nurse expert for low glycemic living, ([...]) this was a refreshing book full of great recipes and education. I probably have every book ever written for low glycemic living, and I found this book to be a great resource for anyone that wants a good overview of living low glycemic. Information was concise and easy to find. The recipes were simple and for use in everyday meals.

The educational information was not overwhelming, even if someone knew nothing about the wonderful world of low glycemic living. Each recipe has the nutritional breakdown, including the glycemic load number.

While this book offers traditional ingredients to maintain a low GI lifestyle, I prefer steel oats, whole grain flours and stevia instead of sugar for example, which can easily be substituted into recipes, which would lower the glycemic load of some recipes.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is searching for a healthier way to eat and cook.

As a registered dietitian and person with diabetes, this is one of my favorite cookbooks to use. I am now hooked on polenta because of the Glycemic Index Cookbook for Dummies fabulous recipes. Every recipe from this cookbook turns out delicious and I use the recipes regularly for our family meals as well as to serve to guests. You must try the Black Bean Burger recipe, it is so much better than a store bought veggie burger. The recipe easy to make and tastes great.

This well-written Dummies guide really helps sort out and explain all those nutritional terms like glycemic index in order to provide a very user-friendly roadmap to enjoying a low-gylcemic diet to benefit health, curb food cravings and assist in more rapid weight loss.

The "lecture" section in the first part of the book does an excellent job of explaining the importance of low-glycemic dining and provides easy to follow guidelines for transforming your kitchen into a pantry stocked with all the ingredients for creating delicious ndishes that don't play havoc with your blood sugar levels.

Judging from the gorgeous color photo sampling of low-glycemic items in the center of the book, it looks like this Dummies' guide makes it easy to stick to healthy cooking styles and food choices without feeling deprived in the least. Take this book along on your next trip to the Farmer's Market because most every recipe uses some sort of fresh fruit, vegetable or herb.

This dummies book covers everything! Before the recipes even begin, the author covers the difference between glycemic index and glycemic load. She makes sure to point out that portions are important, which most books do not discuss! The recipe section is impressive and so far, well received by my husband (meat and potatoes guy).

This cookbook is very good whether you are concerned with the glycemic index or not. I love the Polenta Lasagne. It is delicious, easy and great for you! I make it for large family gatherings all the time when I am trying to please my gluten free eater, vegetarians, and meat eaters all with one dish. Highly recommend!

We bought this book because of a low glycemic cookie recipe was in it. Our ten year old has type 1 diabetes. We have found that if we incorporate at least one low glycemic food in each of her meals, her blood sugar control is better. So, we got this book for some new ideas and recipes. She's always had a hard time with over night blood sugar control. The recipe for the peanut butter cookies has been a life saver! Now, she can have cookies while her siblings eat their cookies. No more sad face while watching her siblings eat dessert. Her A1C is better now because we've been able to incorporate low glycemic foods into her meals. This is always tricky because being a kid with diabetes means you have to monitor what you eat while making sure that you get the right amount of foods so that you grow and gain weight. Also, this book uses real food in the recipes, none of that icky fake sugar substitutes that will give you cancer!

I have been using this book for about 3 weeks and have followed it with very little exercise just the usual dog walking and I have lost 8 pounds. This book makes it so easy to understand what to and what everything means. Most diet books read like stereo instructions this one was very clear, easy and precise.
