Why use GlycoFlex 2?
The answer is simple: VetriScience has over forty years of experience in animal health. We’ve used all our experience in formulating GlycoFlex 2.
GlycoFlex is the only joint support product line registered with the FDA as an animal health product.
For over 17 years, researchers have conducted several studies to determine the abilities of GlycoFlex's main ingredients and the product as a whole. The GlycOmega Perna used in GlycoFlex is exclusive to VetriScience .
Backed with this extensive research, GlycoFlex 2 offers peace of mind for pet owners concerned with their animal’s nutrition. GlycoFlex is the only Perna product researched in canine-specific studies.
What are the unique ingredients in GlycoFlex 2?
The GlycOmega Perna whole mussel (used exclusively in VetriScience GlycoFlex products) is the only New Zealand green lipped mussel clinically researched for its impact on the body’s inflammatory process.
The whole organism difference
GlycoFlex 2 contains GlycOmega, Perna canaliculus, from an exclusive New Zealand source. We use the entire green-lipped mussel for optimal support. The whole mussel provides bioactive components, such as important fatty or amino acids, that other products and mussel powders relying on perna-based extract may lack. This specific mussel is grown and harvested under strict quality control conditions to ensure that none of its nutrients are destroyed or deactivated in processing. Safety studies on this product are available on request.
Patented N,N-Dimethylglycine HCl
GlycoFlex 2 Canine features 100 mg of our patented DMG, an adaptogen known for its immune support properties. DMG is naturally occurring in small amounts in the body. This amino acid derivative supports circulation and oxygen utilization, promoting better nutrient delivery to the joint. VetriScience Laboratories has obtained four U.S. patents on DMG, backed by 20 years of research.
Because GlycoFlex 2 Canine is designed to offer extra support, we’ve added MSM to our tablet and chewable formulas. The MSM we use is guaranteed to be 99 percent pure. MSM is an organic, sulfur-containing compound. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), the fundamental building blocks of joint cartilage, are linked together by disulfide bonds (bonds between two sulfur atoms). Because cartilage is in a sulfur-dependent state of quality, MSM supports joint and connective tissue health.
GlycoFlex 2 stands out because of added glucosamine, at 500 mg per serving, guaranteed to be 99 percent pure and tested for quality. A natural compound found in healthy cartilage, glucosamine sulfate is a constituent of glycosaminoglycans in synovial fluid, meaning it supports joint health through promoting synovial fluid viscosity and strength of the cartilage matrix.
What is the science behind joint health?
The only joints that move (allowing pivot-like adjustments) are called “synovial joints,” so coined because of the synovial fluid that surrounds them.
The fibrous sac surrounding the joint is called the capsule, and is filled with synovial fluid and lined with a synovial membrane. Each bone end in the joint is padded with a thin layer of cartilage. The articular cartilage is made up of a matrix containing collagen and glycosaminoglycans (GAGS). The synovial fluid is the nourishment for the cartilage. When cartilage has a loose or compromised matrix, bone can rub on bone, creating an uncomfortable friction. To avoid this unpleasant sensation, it is necessary to maintain the health of the synovial fluid.
