2.0 out of 5 stars Not for African-Americans or brown skin people
This peel was far too strong. I only used it for 2 minutes and have horrible burns on my face. I've had chemical peels from the derm. but never had adverse outcomes. I am greatly disappointed in this peel.

I have never used a peel anywhere near this potent ( usually 10% drugstore brands) so I was VERY careful. I just left it on a few minutes. However, it was so hot that I doubt I could have stood it much longer even had I wanted to. I had never had a professional facial so did not know what to expect. I am really excited about using this as I can see it is powerful and effective. I left it on my lips just seconds and all the old skin just came right off! I expected my lips to crack and bleed after that but they didn't! I have always been a 'do it yourselfer' including filler injections for face but this I would caution not to overdo it as it could damage your skin . It definitely is effective so if you can use extreme restraint, try it. Start with a small area first so you see how it works. I also used it on my son's back for acne as he did not want to use Acutane again. It was not so hot to him and worked very well with just one application. We are going to do some more on him as well. You can also use a Q-tip to do specific areas , lines, pimples, scars, etc. Oh, even after three weeks my skin still has color to it whereas before I was very pale as I have been dealing with a long term illness. I look healthier now too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, December 2, 2010

This review is from: Glycolic Acid 70% Chemical Peel, 30mL (Professional) (Misc.)
I recently ordered the glycolic acid 70% solution and didn't really know what to expect... I have read up on using treatments like this and most of them said that you should start off with a lower percentage solution (30%) because the product will burn too much and cause too much of a reaction while it heals. I was looking to clear up my minor acne scars and a few sun caused light wrinkles that I have acquired from years of sun tanning.

Because I wanted faster more dramatic results, I went ahead and ordered the 70% solution anyway and tried it as soon as it arrived. I followed the detailed instructions (don't be afraid of what the information package says... it warns the user about burning and scabbing and I was so afraid!) but I did it anyways and I LOVED the results. I left the solution on my face for the full max time of 5 minutes and washed it off. It didn't burn THAT much, but it was hot and tingly. I found the feeling to be actually pleasant! I didn't even have to use the cool setting on my hairdryer (like the instructions recommend) because the burning was not that intense. After I washed it off my face, I waited a few minutes before applying a tiny bit of jojoba oil to my face (you're supposed to moisturize with an unscented vitamin e based moisturizer afterward but jojoba oil is the best thing for healing your skin without clogging pores so I used that). I went to sleep and woke up the next morning.... My skin was SLIGHTLY red, (it looked like I went a few extra minutes in the tanning bed or on a long jog outside in the cold) but not at all what they warned that you might look like (a swollen scabbing mess ha ha). I put on some light makeup and went about my day! It still feels tight and kind of sunburnt, but It is already starting to look clearer.

I am excited to see what my skin will be like in 7 days after all of the peeling occurs! I am so happy so far and I will continue to use this product every 3 weeks until I see my desired results.

Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Glycolic Acid Peel, May 16, 2009
This review is from: Glycolic Acid 70% Chemical Peel, 30mL (Professional) (Misc.)
This peel actually works very well but as stated before I wouldn't start with this one. If left on too long it can cause serious damage. I am very pleased with the overall results and with each peel I can see more results. Scars are fading and also fine lines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Peel...Works Wonders on Acne Scars!, April 22, 2010

I was getting bi-weekly appointments for microdermabrasions and glycolic peels for $185 per treatment. I loved the results but the cost drove me to other options. I purchased this peel along with a home-micro kit (cheap) and love the effect it has had on my skin. I only use it about every 10-15 days for no longer then a minute and a half! Less is more ladies. I wanted to buy a neutralizer but found that baking soda mixed with a litte water rubbed on my face after the treatment helps to take away the burning sensation and calm my pores. My skin looks amazing, my pores are smaller and everyone has noticed a difference (including me)!

I started carefully with the 70% solution as whenever I get facials, my beautician would use glycolic peels which barely made my skin tingle. I have very very oily skin, and I would not recommend 70% on any other type of skin, unless you are using it on your back. My skin does not peel after 2 minutes, but it tingles and then looks very clean for the next few days. You have to follow instructions to a T, though. Make sure you rinse off for a few minutes around the nose creases.

The improvement I see after using it 3 times on my face is the softness, significantly less breakouts, less clogged pores. I use it every 5 days. It literally erased the fine lines around my eyes. I also use it on my neck and back and butt - baby-soft skin!!! I haven't had this soft of texture since I was 12.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please read the instructions and go by them, March 14, 2011

This review is from: Glycolic Acid 70% Chemical Peel, 30mL (Professional) (Misc.)
I went to the dermatologist last year to see what can be done about some age/brown/liver spots on my face. I'm 41, so it's understandable that I'm going to start seeing them but heck I don't want to look too old so soon. He set me up for two chemical peels and the Obagi plan. The chemical peels were quite strong, this product is nearly as strong as what I received in the office. The total visit cost ~$420 for the Obagi & two peels. I did notice some improvements, but was expecting better results.

I've had this product for about 3 weeks and have applied it three times. I've seen more improvements over the past 3 weeks with this ~$20 product than I did spending $400+ at the dermatologist. I read the included instructions about 3 times before using the product. Please, anyone considering this product read the instructions - this is your face and misuse may cause you problems. But, if you go by the instructions you should see some substantial results at a price that is beyond reasonable (based on what I paid anyways).

I'll keep using this for the next couple months and see what happens. My brown spots are definitely lighter, but still visible. I may update this review after that time. I did take a "before" picture that I'll use to compare it to an "after" picture at some point in time.

If you get anything out of this review, let it be READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. This is some potent stuff and I'm honestly surprised I was able to find it online. I may wind up buying a few more bottles just incase this product gets pulled at some point (i.e. people who don't read the instructions and make complaints).

5.0 out of 5 stars Stronger then you expect, February 23, 2011

This review is from: Glycolic Acid 70% Chemical Peel, 30mL (Professional) (Misc.)
I'm an adult male with some scarring and inconsistent pigment that I wanted to address. My skin is not sensitive and this was my first chemical peel so I didn't know what to expect. I had read many good reviews but also a few complaining that it didn't do anything.

I put it on my face on saturday night. I did everything per the directions but thought what the heck ill do it for the full 5 min. It was somewhat painful but not too bad. After neutralizing my face was kinda whitish with some small oozing areas. Sunday I woke up with some burns on my face. Not horrible but burns nonetheless. I even went out in public for a short time. Monday I woke up and I was completely scabbed over. Basically my entire face had a thin brown crusty scab on it. This is when I promised myself next time 2 min max. Tuesday scab started to crust off and my face liked pink but normal underneath to my relief. Today the last of the scabs are off.

Bottom line. Be careful resist the urge to jump in. I was borderline scared for a bit. The good news is my face is normal again. It completely removed every mark on my face. Freckles and everything. No drastic change to scarring but it did help some. Skin looks fresh.

This is (obviously) very strong, so if you haven't used a product like this before don't start with this one. But - WOW - I am very happy with the peel I get with this glycolic treatment!

I have been using Glycolic for a while now and love the results. You really have to know how to use it,never leave on your face more than 30 to 45 seconds before you wash it off. It saves me alot of money from going to get it done at the the Dermatologist which the price would range from $100- to $150 per treatment. My skin is smooth, has a glow and it helps me with brown spots. People are always asking what do I use and Im happy to tell them Glycolic 70%. Remember to do a little test spot first. Good luck

5.0 out of 5 stars definitely works, December 13, 2009
This review is from: Glycolic Acid 70% Chemical Peel, 30mL (Professional) (Misc.)
For some, the peel effects of this concentration might be too much; will take at least 2 days to recover from use. I put this on for just about a minute and then washed it off, face was red/rough for 2 days and then very smooth. So it works but be careful.
