Amazing skin but traumatic process!,

This product improved the appearance of my skin by reducing acne scars and hyperpigmentation after just one use but my gosh is this stuff strong! I have been using another brand's 25% strength peel for a year and yet this brand's 40% was incredibly intense in comparison! My entire face peeled for five days post peel and immediately after using the peel I experienced much more than " slight redness". My skin had the texture of an aligator and was extremely red and felt as if it was burning off. So, be prepared for that if you use this product. I am planning to use it again as the results were so great but am a bit frightened to due to the extreme peeling. Overall, I recommend it but with a word of caution as this peel can be traumatizing if you expect " slight redness" and end up with a red alligator face!

After having spent $150 a pop for glycolic peels at a doctor's office, I decided to try this out at home. Two weeks prior to my office peels, the aesthetician instructed me to use a glycolic face wash and use glycolic cream (Jan Marini brand, the best!) for two weeks prior in order to get my skin prepped and used to the lower level of glycolic acid. I use Jan Marini products religiously (the face wash has 12% glycolic acid), so I felt I was good and ready to give this a whirl at home. I left it on for only 3 minutes, and when I splashed my face off with the sinkful of water & baking soda (FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!), I could feel that this was a deeper peel than I had received at the doctors'. I put on some moisturizer and still felt a little 'sunburnt'. The next day, I could see that my skin looked better, but was tight and dry. More moisturizer and 30 SPF sunscreen (a MUST, especially right after a peel). Will do a series of peels once my face feels back to normal, and then get on a 'maintenance' schedule. Very happy with the results! Also, I barely put a dent in the bottle; for under $20, I will be saving well over $1,000 in doctor's office peels. Wouldn't recommend this strength for someone whose skin isn't already accustomed to glycolic acid use, though.

I am new to chemical peels, and I first want to say that is product is great and certainly worth the price. If you know exactly what you are doing, you can benefit in several ways from this product. After my second peel with the product, I noticed my skin was firmer, smoother, more even colored, and it has **significantly reduced the acne on my face.**This product is very strong, so be careful. I wipe my skin with alcohol to srip away all oils, wait 2-3 minutes, and thinly apply the Glycolic acid to first face and whatever is left on the cotton pad to my neck. I started out at 3 minutes, and have increased the time 20 seconds with each consecutive peel. Be aware that the product will cause medium discomfort, but that only means it's working! I apply a solution of baking soda and water to my face once the time is up. This will cause increased discomfort for about another 30 seconds, but once the acid is neutralized with the base, all the pain from the peel stops. Once the acid is neutralized, I splash my face with cool water, PAT (don't rub) dry, and apply vitamin E oil to moisturize. That's all. You'll need to wear an SPF of 15 minimum on your face for a few days after the peel because it will be fresh, new exposed skin for the top layer. If you're worried about the discomfort, start with a lower percentage and work your way up. I started directly with 40%, and I couldn't be happier. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING BEFORE YOU DO A CHEMICAL PEEL. Hope you found this review helpful :)

I was having some issues with sudden adult acne. I tried everything, then one day I was stumbling around on Amazon (because i am an addict) and found this stuff. It burnt like hell the first few times, but my acne was gone after just a few peels. A little goes a long way, so when i still had a full bottle left I decided to try in on my stretch marks because rumor has it that glycolic acid is great for skin reproduction. LOVE the results. I am so vain about the appearance of my abs, so you can imagine that after pregnancy I have tried every stretch mark cream on the market. This is the only thing that has made a huge different. Still no miracle, but my marks are allot less deep. You can barely feel them at all, and from a few feet away you can't even see them at all. I am a believer.

I love this Glycolic Peel from skin obsession! I got it mainly for my pitted acne scars and this is the first product that has worked. Some of the really deep ones are still there but much less noticable and the edges are less defined. Other benefits are that my skin all over is smoother and brighter, with fine lines (that only I could see) gone. I'm 27 and I swear this has taken 5 years off my skin. If you have scars, fines lines, age spots or just dull skin I would so recommend this outstanding product.

Having worked in cosmetic ingredient sales for several years (not selling cosmetics but selling ingredients to major cosmetic manufacturers) I'm quite familiar with the ingredients and their results. It's funny that I'd forgotten about using glycolic acid until I found this.First of all, there are two ways of using it but disregarding the instructions is NOT something to do on here if you don't want irritation. If you use it as a peel, per the instructions don't use it mire often than every two weeks. Longer if you have sensitive skin. You only want to remove the dead top layer of skin. If you peel more often your skin doesn't have time to renew and turn over. And that would likely irritate The instructions that come on a piece of paper with the bottle tell you if you aren't familiar with it you should only put it on for 3 min or less. Then immediately douse your skin in a baking soda and water wash which will neutralize and immediately stop the acid. I'm not sure if those who had bad peeling saw this because if you just leave it on like a regular peel or if you don't neutralize it, you are making a mistake to allow it to keep working. This first process will do what your skin stops doing as you age even if you do have slight peeling. As we are younger we automatically have cell turnover which sloughs off the top layer of dead skin and new skin emerges giving us glowing and healthy skin. As we age, we no longer have this and dead skin stays on the surface which also results in more wrinkles. Microdermabrasion, dermplaning, and glycolic acid peels remove that top layer of dead skin. However, back in my day of cosmetic ingredient sales I learned another way to use this which will shock the heck out of you. simply dab it on any area of your skin that has blemishes and you'll be AMAZED (I'll get to why in a second.) I recently ordered some Clearisil cleanser on Vine that was new. The reviews stated many had the same results I did...my skin broke out like crazy. I determined it was because they actually had no cleaner in it and hydrogenated oil so my makeup stayed on and my pores were clogged. I've been fighting clearing my skin since. It's been getting better but all I did was dab this on the areas of my skin that were broken out and INSTANTLY they all opened up and emptied out. Even deep blemishes were taken instantly to the surface. No bumps were left so once I put on foundation the flaws I had an hour before vanished. Because of this you don't want to use it right before you leave or put on makeup as your skin will continue to empty out any bacteria that it kills even after it stops working. The drawback? It's an acid, y'all. It stings like fire as it kills the bacteria in your pores. The way I use this, therefore, is not as a peel. I simply dab it on broken out areas, let them empty, wash it off with the neutralizer I discussed above. While other medications result in topical use for those blemishes that reach the surface this actually opens them up, then enters them, kills the bacteria. and empties out the pore. As you watch. To do that it has to sting. But beauty is sometimes painful. If you want to remove the top dead layer of skin, age spots, etc. then you would want to use it as a peel but if you are worried about your skin being red for a day or possibly peeling (this is like microdermabrasion if used that way) then you can just use it as spot treatment. Additionally, using it as a peel does help more minimization and fine lines. The positives: Nothing gives you instant results like this, though there are good natural alternatives that take longer like the ANSR beam The negatives: Stings like a mild acid on your face because it's a mild acid on your face. But that acid kills all bacteria even deep below the surface that would otherwise take weeks to clear out as they surfaced. UPDATE: I had a friend who got some glycolic acid and though it cleared up things in a day or two when it normally took a week, she didn't have the same results as me as it just clearing everything out. I've found that when I use this with the ANSR blue light beam I have great results and without it, better results than other solutions but not as instant. I have no ties financially or in any other way to the ANSR beam. In fact, you can use any brand of blue light therapy or even go to a dermatologist to get it. That's simply the brand I bought. I have no preferance for which one works but the blue light therapy for my skin, especially when combined with red light, still produces the best results. Although the combo of that and this give me megafast relief. My skin is back to normal now and anything that come up, like when I eat chocolate, the two zap it away before anyone is the wiser now.

This product really works. I use it weekly and can see a big improvement in the texture and firmness of my face and neck. There is a burning sensation when first applied but subsides in a few minutes. I would advise you to wash your hands after you apply it, dont grab anything below the belt untill you do.

Try this before you get laser treatments!,

I was seriously considering laser resurfacing to clear up some acne scarring, uneven skin tone, melasma and minor sun damage. It would have cost around $2,000.I am SO glad I tried this stuff first. I've done two treatments two weeks apart so far, and the difference is amazing. There is some minor peeling for a few days after each treatment, but it's nothing moisturizer and makeup can't camouflage. My pores are smaller, my forehead has completely cleared up, my melasma is less noticeable and overall my skin just looks great. Highly recommended.

Effective professional strength peel,

I have used several products from the Original Skin Store. All products are as described, service is outstanding and delivery is super fast. The 40% Glycolic Acid Peel is a great peel if you have experience using any glycolic peels and if you follow the instructions. You can use the peel at night and go to work or play the next day. With regular use the results are obvious, softening of wrinkles, smaller pores and better skin tone and color. After the peel my skin is refreshed and much more ready to absorb any other skin products you may be using. Original Skin Store products are great. I have used several strengths of the glycolic peels, the 85% Lactic Acid Peel (super great for mature skin), the microderm crystals, pumpkin peel and tca peels. FOLLOW the instructions and recommendations and you should have great results.

Salon-quality peel for a great price!,

This a great product for the price. I don't recommend for the newbie who has never had a glycolic peel---the tingly sensation can be a bit much for one someone who has never had one. I've used microdermabrasion kits and other glycolic acid peels. I found this one to be the best at-home treatment. Following the directions is a must.As for my skin, love it!!! I'm at the age where I'm seeing fine lines around my eyes, and some hyperpigmentation from sun damage. This peel isn't a fountain of youth kind of thing, but I am definitely satisfied with what I see. My skin feels very soft and looks more radiant. I would definitely purchase this again. |
