Lizzy's dead, long live the Lizzy, October 28, 2008
This review is from: Glyder (Audio CD)
This is good.
It's dynamic, unpretentious in your face rock with a capital RRRRRROCK. Most surprising of all is just how contemporary it sounds. Tracks like 'PUP' (Pretty Useless People) 'Stargazer' and my favoutite, the strident 'You won't bring me down' are almost timeless in their classic appeal.
Sure it reeks of Thin Lizzy, both the vocals and guitar lines bring back fond memories of Lynott and co., but Glyder are no pale imitation or sub standard covers band, they're the real thing. Heartfelt, passionate and headbanging.
If you liked Lizzy, Glyder will be like the second coming.

Rock Music sucks in the U.S.A.---So we import Glyder, December 28, 2007
This review is from: Glyder (Audio CD)
I discovered Glyder by accident on Amazon. I don't recall how.
The CD was then, OOP, and almost $[...] used. I later found a website where I could buy a download of the entire album (Not iTunes!).
I prefer to buy CDs but I wanted to here the album first and was hoping the price of the CD would drop on amazon OR I'd find it elsewhere.
I did find it elsewhere and now have it. I also have their new CD!
Glyder, get compared to Thin Lizzy. I read somewhere that Phil Lynott's mother (she's got to 80!) thinks Glyder is the new Thin Lizzy.
Yes, they are from South Ireland and they do employ Thin Lizzy's former producer (Chris Tsangarides) but they are not a Thin Lizzy tribute band but a good band in their own right. Just listen to Stargazer and PUP.
I'm not a expert on Thin Lizzy but I know good music and GLYDER ROCKS!
Glyder rocks old-school and that is a good thing because I would rather hear Glyder sounding like a late 70s ROCK band.
Why? Because Panic at the Disco and Linkpin Park DO NOT rock my world.
Emo bands bore me. Hinder is awful. Good Charlotte is BAD.
So here comes Glyder and they rock and I have shared this music with friends and they like it too; however why is their CD OOP?
Why no reviews on allmusic.com? Why no other reviews here.
And guess what? I never saw a review for this band in MOJO, Uncut or Q.
The Songs: They all Rock Hard. The CD is top loaded though and I say the better tracks are the first 5.
Find Glyder and try this band and look up their new album Playground for Life.
Oh, the other issue is that album and the new one are imports. Why does Glyder not have a U.S. distrobution deal?
C'mon, one less Arcade Fire here and we can have Glyder.
We need the band The Answer here also. I'll tell you this. I think The Answer are even BETTER than Glyder but they are import only too.
See. Rock Music Sucks in the U.S.A.
