most played at concerts.....,
By "sidheshell" (Corvallis, Oregon) - See all my reviews

I think that the songs on this album make up a majority of the songs that are played at the concerts. I could not say that it is the best of their albums or not, because in truth all three of their studio albums have somthing unique to them....although this is the cd i probably listen the least to, but it is still great. This album has the most accesible songs and lyrics, which is probably why it gets so much play time at concerts. EVERYONE sings along to the songs from this album, such as Cinema, Clean Plastic Baby, All the Stories but One and Danny Boy. Also everyone who goes to Floater concerts enjoys something to sing (shout, scream) along to i think......And as i said in my review of angels/devils, it is like a story, so listen to the whole thing through.... Also I really enjoy Cinema because the harmony is really easy to figure out.....there is nothing quite as great as a song which lends itself to harmonization... and that is the difference between Floater and other "metal" (grimace) bands.....harmony within their chaos....(smile)

All about it!,

This was the first album I ever heard Floater, and thus was the first time their completely unique and moving sound hit my eardrums. This album is a definite for first time listeners, as it moves everywhere from Tool like metal to an obvious affection for style somewhere in the psychedelic Pink Floyd style This band absolutely blows me away with every incarnation, and (being as I grew up in Eugene Or, their home town) I have missed seeing these songs played live But this is definitely the next best thing, engrossing, thought provoking, and fantastically sculpted, this album is an independent milestone, for a band that knows no boundaries.

I have seen this band numorous times and can't possibly imagine something more. This is this most true band that can thrash and knows how to play. This is my favorite cd of theirs because it capture's more of an aggressive/artistic flare that you could hear but couldn't capture on their debut Sink. I've been a deadicated fan for years and have to say this was the album that made me double take and think more about there potential.

How could you not love this album! Only a handful of bands can change the intensity of the songs like Floater can. Being angry one minute, and joyful the next. Excellent is the word to describe the contents of Glyph. This is one of the best bands of Generation X. IF any band deserves discovery, it is by far, FLOATER!

I FIRST HEARD THIS ALBUM THROUGH AN EX-GIRLFRIEND, WHO ONCE LIVED IN PORTLAND. IT MESMERIZED MY SOUL FROM THE MINUTE SHE PRESSED PLAY. IF ONLY THERE WAS MORE TALENT TO REPRESENT MY 90'S GENERATION. THE GIRLFRIEND IS GONE NOW BUT FLOATER IS WITH ME FOREVER!

One of the Few bands that are the BEST but still not Heard,

This album is a different band than any you have ever heard. They swing from Hard-Hitting Metal/Acid songs like Cinema, to slow painfully sad (in a good way) songs like The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy and Clean Plastic Baby. It is awesome CD!!!! (I will be true, though, a couple of songs are like jungle beats, they are cool and everything, but they could have left those out.)

Life Without Floater....,

Since I've moved across the country, I've had to suffer without being able to see Floater live. I've had to depend on my CD collection. The East coast has never heard of Floater. I highly recommend any and all of Floaters releases. If you find one, snatch it up, it's only a matter of time when the world knows who and what Floater is all about. Floater, native of Washington, Oregon and California drives hard notes with symphonic tones to your very core. Supplying listening satisfaction to a wide range of listeners, I would suggest this band to moshpit dwellers as well as Floyd fans. Personal favorite: The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy and Crawl to you from the Glyph CD. Fourty Thumbs Up!

Floater's first change of many,
By Jay Stevens (NxNW, Orygun) - See all my reviews

In Floater's second album "Glyph," the band takes on a bit more of a digestible turn but still retain their Progressive roots and heavy melodies. "Glyph" has produced Floater's most popular songs in "The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy," a humorous but raucous tale of a drunken Father and his family, and "Cinema," a mind melting journey into the psyche of lead singer Robert Wynia. Both songs a sure crowd favorite in a live setting. Other stand out tracks include "Clean Plastic Baby," a churning epic sized song, "All the Stories But One," a real sing along tune, and "Crawl Into You," arguably possessing Dave Amador's greatest guitar solo to date. Drummer Peter Cornett bellies up to the mic in a great acoustic ballad (that's him on the guitar as well) "Bottle," another humorous but somehow dark tale of alcohol and it's controlling nature.
