Out of reach,
By A Customer
This review is from: Glyph (Audio CD)
I listened to this album a few years ago, but in contrast to all other HB records, I didn't feel the need to buy it. Some tracks contains these cheesy, standardized pseudo-techno beats, pretending to be modern. The melodies are weaker than on other HB albums, and the whole CD sounds as if it was done in a hurry. Better check out HB's collaboration with XTC's singer Andy Partridge, "Through the hill".

If you like thick beats and smokey atmospheric Piano..,

You will love this incredible masterpiece by two of this century's best contributors to new music. This is nothing like other records which preceed it and certainly my favorite record of 1997. This used to be very hard to find, so if you can get it.. buy it now. I'm a producer myself and look towards people like Harold Budd and Hector Zazou for inspiration and new concepts in pop and beyond. Let this work of poetry work its magic on you. I own all of the Budd releases. This CD is less piano and more sonic wash w/ Zazou's percussion, most of which does little to take the songs into different territories. Budd recites some poetry on this disk, like he did on DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (which is a better release).
