There are dozens of books on the market that promise you "shortcuts" and "tricks" to help you ace the GMAT. In reality, however, if you want to score well on the GMAT, you're going to have to work hard. GMAT CAT SuperCourse is an extremely thorough test-preparation tool designed for the serious student. Author Thomas H. Martinson has taken the techniques he developed for two national test-prep companies and compiled them in this book. The first five lessons provide an overview of the exam, including a section on "Demystifying the GMAT," which reminds you that the Educational Testing Service is just a business, that the GMAT isn't perfect, and that your score isn't everything--all in the hopes of relieving your test anxieties. The remaining 17 lessons cover all aspects of the verbal, math, and analytical writing portions of the exam, providing numerous examples and explanations. Two of the best features of this book are the verbal and math diagnostics tests to help you pinpoint where you need to do the most work and the 24 great "drills." The GMAT CAT SuperCourse, 6th Edition by Thomas H. Martinson SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. I encountered numerous typos in both the sample questions and answers. Furthermore, the questions in this book are nowhere similiar in style or difficulty to the questions found in "The Official Guide for GMAT Review." The hints and advices that Thomas Martinson offers are laughable and utterly useless. If you want a decent study guide for the GMAT exam, buy "The Official Guide for GMAT Review" and either a Kaplan or Princeton Review book. The GMAT CAT SuperCourse is an absolute waste of money!

This book was tremendously helpful. The lessons are logically planned. The review questions are approriately difficult. The practice tests are somewhat too easy so be certain to use the POWERPREP Software tests (provided by GMAT) to compliment the practice tests of the book. Overall, the book accomplishes the same objectives as a prep course (I improved my score by 70 points, something I don't think Kaplan or Princeton could guarantee) for substantially less money.

This book is a good review for those whose math skills are a little rusty. The grammar and English sections are ok, but the math sections are too simple. You will need to supplement your preparations with another book.
