3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read November 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Gnit-Wit Gnipper is back and she's still facing some challenges if she wants to get a real hat instead of a frying pan for her head...

This author has a great imagination and writes a silly, busy story that should grab young ones' attention and keep them reading to the end. Everything Gnit-Wit does seems to evolve into big trouble. You find yourself waiting to see just how things are going to turn out this time.

All she wants is a cookie. How could trying to reach where the cookies are stored cause a problem? Well, it can if you try to create a growth potion you can use to reach up there and manage to test a drop on your fire ant queen. The potion DOES work and now you have a monster aunt who happens to be pregnant!

T J Lanz's world of gnomes is fun to visit. Everyone seems to be a bit crazy. Gnit-Wit's Granny can fly (her plane is out of this world), and her friend, Sam, is part human and part squirrel. With characters like these and a BIG ant that is going to hatch thousands of babies shortly, the action picks up and races through the short story.

Any child who likes silliness, has a good imagination or would just like to be surprised by how a story will enjoy this one. It's a fast read that could easily work into a fantastic conversation about the things your own child can imagine. Why not let them write their own story and read it to you? I'm sure this author would be pleased to know that his/her work has created another fantasy story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great YR Short Story from Lantz November 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading Lantz's Gnit-Wit Gnipper and the Perilous Plague, I was excited to see he already had a follow-up available on Kindle. While Gnipper remains the star of the show, what I liked best about this new story was the supporting cast the author introduces. Each character has a unique personality, and I ended up being a fan of them all.

The story itself is well crafted, and readers of all ages should enjoy finding out how Gnipper gets herself out of another crazy dilemma (which she created in the first place). There's no drop off in quality from the first story, so if you read that and liked it -- or if you're a fan of witty fantasy similar to that of Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman -- you should enjoy this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual and Entertaining December 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a story about a gnome called Gnipper who longs for a `real' hat to gain kudos in the community and shake off the added name of Gnit Wit. The community is very science orientated and to gain her hat, and lose her added name, she, like all the others, must invent something which will enhance the lives of all gnomes. Gnipper's invention (still in its experimental stages) is to be a growth potion, largely so she can reach the cookie jar, but also because she feels it will be useful to others of the same stature. But, needless to say, the experiment backfires when she tests it on her pet ant, which does indeed grow - out of all proportion, in fact - and becomes very hostile. And if that is not enough, she is expecting lots of little ants in the very near future, hence an impending disaster is born. But can Gnipper undo what she has done!
This is a fun and imaginative read and I can see it keeping children engaged with its quirky characters, amusing dialogue and original plot. I also thought it was well-crafted and reasonably exiting. Younger children may need a bit of help with some of the vocabulary though, but that is not a bad thing as long as there is a parent or older sibling there to help out. I would see this book appealing to ages 6 and upwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ferocious Fire Ants is Fantastic! November 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Creative and cute follow up to The Perilous Plague, from TJ Lantz, continuing Gnipper's story. Gnipper's tale is an adorable, quick read that, as many other reviews have already mentioned, is perfect for all ages to enjoy. Mr. Lantz's imaginative short story leaves you wanting to read more about Gnipper the Gnome and the crazy situations she gets herself into. Great up and coming author with a lovable character!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps getting better October 3, 2012
By Sam
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second Rosehaven story (behind "Gnit-Wit Gnipper and the Perilous Plague") and I think it's better than the first one. It's much funnier and we get to meet new members of Gnipper's world. Gnipper does many crazy things that kids will enjoy and might relate to. There are a lot of difficult words that many children might not understand if reading on their own but this could be a wonderful tool for increasing a child's vocabulary. Like the first Rosehaven book, this is also an ideal bedtime or classroom story that kids AND adults can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story!! October 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Gnit-wit Gnipper and the Ferocious Fire Ants is an imaginative, fun story for everyone. The main character, Gnipper, is a loveable gnome who gets herself into trouble/adventure, with the help of her woodland friends and gnomish family. The story is very creative, and I can't wait to read more in the next book about how she will finally earn her gnome-hat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gnit-Wit Gnipper June 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I was first introduced to Gnipper in Rise of the Retics. Absolutely loved her so was tickled pink when I saw this one up for review! Dear Gnipper is trying her best to get her hat. Unfortunately, her plans always seem to go awry. This is a wonderful, short read that would be a perfect one to read to the little ones before bed (those who are young at heart would enjoy this as well though). Also, I was thrilled when I saw there were footnotes in this short story as well! Just love them!! Probably one of my favorite parts of the books. Highly recommend this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
