And speaking of badly, throughout the story several of the author's characters said they "felt badly" when the correct term is they "felt bad." If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands  |  10 reviewers made a similar statement

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, and some spice with the sugar December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I bought this because the blurb cracked me up...and the book did not let me down. I laughed all the way through, and even got to experience a rather poignant romance. And then there's Ty...

Lots of sweet, and some serious spice that had me blushing, but then there's Ty...

...have I mentioned Ty?

*le sigh*

3.0 out of 5 stars Started Good and Kinda Fizzled January 31, 2012
By Lorijay
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This story didn't ring true for me. Right from the start the Fireman she's interested in tells her he's really only looking for sex. They have a couple meet-cutes and there's a zing. The first part was very good, funny and interesting; I enjoyed getting to know her and her two cute kids and she's having fun thinking about the sexy neighbor. As the story moves along, she reveals deep disappointment with her ex who cheated on her and didn't care for her even as she inexplicably begins to consider the Fireman who is clearly having commitment issues. Then they kinda get forced into a relationship and they are calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend and she goes and accepts a date from a creepy but hot Rancher who gives her a gross personal tour of his horse semen production area. The suspense part of the story was dumb and not very much of a mystery; the danger only existed as a way for the Fireman to have to rescue her, drag her behind the fire-truck to kiss her against his will, then walk away. For a story that started out in a sex-shop describing vibrators, the sex was quick, sparse and lukewarm. Good characterization with her two Moms, kids and the neighbor, but the storyline was weak. I skipped through quite a bit of the second half.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read! January 28, 2012

A great first novel (or tenth!). There is enough mystery to keep you intrigued, cute kids and a woman who doesn't always look her best.
Throw in a hunky new neighbor, an unusual job (sex toys and wild bachlorette parties), a past that has shaken your confidence, some wacky relatives and you have a laugh-out-loud romance. I highly recommend this!

But stupid enough to prevent you from finishing it. I read about two thirds before finally giving up and moving on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light reading,
Written decently. Story line was a bit nutty with the hippy love mother in law and the gal who runs a sex aide/toy shop. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Read
This was a cute brain-fluff read for me. I wanted the gnome to have magical properties. But it was just an everyday, normal garden gnome. I did enjoy the story.
