At last!,
By Dominic "dominichael" (nevada city, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ: A Gnostic Christian Kabbalah (Paperback)
If Jesus Christ (or Yeshua Messiah) in fact was far more Jewish than he ever was "Christian", whatever he might have been teaching on other levels probably requires we meet him on Jewish terms. Though I'm Christian by orientation, I recognize the value and power of deeply studying the Old Testament and source works of Jewish Kabbalah. Making the "translation" of Jewish principles into my own Christian experience more than just intellectual, however, has been very challenging.
While many mystic-writers in the past have attempted to bridge this "gap" between Jewish Kabbalah and Christian mysticism, none have come anywhere close to the authority, precision and heart devotion which I feel in Tau Malachi's "Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ". The structural sequence of teachings layer a picture which becomes an experience unto itself! Torah and Gospel citations equally interpenetrate; principles of the Tree of Life, the Universes, Divine Personae, etc. are grounded in stunning New Testament insights I never imagined. The practices concluding each chapter are very accessible and simply transformative. The total effect, which is certainly too much to grasp in the first pass, can only deepen through many future re-readings. This sparkling synposis of Western Enlightenment, I believe, is a reference work for the future!

What a refreshing new look at Gnosticism and the Christian Kabbalah! This is the only book that I have been able to find that presents a clear, easy to follow veiw of the Christian Kabbalah, truly a revolutionary work that Gnostic practitioners will continue to refrence for generations to come. The work takes the reader into the basic teachings of the Christain Kabbalah through a study of the Sefirot (aspects of God) and universes, with an exelent introduction explaining what the Kabbalah is and how to study it. and various appendicies that will aide the reader in their understanding of the book. Also very helpful were the meditations at the end of each chapter which allow for a personal experience of the ideas spoken of in the chapter. This work presents intruging ideas about St. Mary Magdalene as the wife of Jesus, Jesus as a man and a mystic, as well as many other characters often misunderstood in the Bible. This is an absolutley essential work for anyone interested in Gnosicism or the Christian Kabbalah!

This is the book on the Christian Kabbalah I've been looking for for nine years! I've tried them all, Dion Fortune's books, Ted Andrews, Gershom Scholem, and so on and so on and NO WHERE have I been able to find a clear, concise book on the Christian Kabbalah. Now, here it is! If you're a Christian who's into a more mystical approach, this is the book for you!

This is an absolutely beautiful work that explores Christianity from a deeper, more insightful and mystical perspective, more than anything I have ever read before. Drawing on over 35 years of Gnostic study, Tau Malachi offers a unique veiw of Gnostisim and the Christian Kabbalah from his experience that is absent in many writings on the subject today. An incredible book that will astound readers with its incredible teachings and insights from a living Gnostic tradition!

Truly Hits The Mark,
This review is from: Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ: A Gnostic Christian Kabbalah (Paperback)
This book is quite remarkable. I learned a great deal about many areas of Christianity and Kabbalah that I had previously only wondered about, because a reliable source of information containing the answers I sought had eluded me for years. Even the word, Gnostic, used to cause me concern, but no longer. Whether one agree's with what is presented or not, one is never asked to sacrifice one's own belief system in order to appreciate the valuable content of Tau Malachi's book. His inspired perceptions and wisdom flow through his words on so many levels that there is truth enough for anyone, regardless of one's personal orientations and beliefs. The Names of God are respectfully addressed. Chants are suggested at appropriate intervals to guide one is whatever way they are seeking to advance spiritually. Meditations, visualizations, all in all....5 star reading!

Phenomenal Book, Wonderfully Written,

This review is from: Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ: A Gnostic Christian Kabbalah (Paperback)
Finding myself - like so many others - not completely satisfied with contemporary Christian teachings, and left with a feeling that "there must be something more", I recently began undertaking a study of mystical traditions, including Kabbalah.
When I first began reading "Gnosis..." I found the material very heavy and a bit much to absorb, but even then there were passages that stood out to me and resonated with a deep, emphatic 'YES!'. I explored a number of similarly-themed books, but none left me with a feeling of having experienced profound spiritual truths as I had with "Gnosis...", so I returned to Tau Malachi's book. I believe the brief departure was exactly what I needed. Having time to absorb the concepts of the Sephirot, Olamot, and a number of other elements, I've been able to continue my reading with greater ease. I believe that this book warrants this type of earnest study and reflection - especially for one like myself who is just beginning their journey. I am, once again, experiencing the 'YES!' I cannot possibly recommend this book enough...it is simply incredible!

A Bridge is Forming,
This review is from: Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ: A Gnostic Christian Kabbalah (Paperback)
This is one of those rare books that starts bridging the gap between seemingly different worlds.
Kabbalah (with Tantra) is probably one of the most important concepts forgotton by modern man. It is an ancient wisdom that could open so many doors to our inner selves. Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ - although a difficult read at some stages - is an important book, as it brings Kabbalah, Gnosticism and Christianity togeteher, as it should be. Highly recommended.

The Inner Christ,
By A Constant Reader (New York City, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ: A Gnostic Christian Kabbalah (Paperback)
Always looking. Always hoping. In this book, I've found the brilliant referential background to follow on after the powerful lessons, as well as powerful reading, I found in Ki Longfellow's The Secret Magdalene: A Novel. Tau Malachi's work is monumental in scope and understanding. It seems to me that with people now writing (Longfellow, Malachi, Freke & Gandy, Pagels, others of course) such inspiring new myth and new Gnosis, that we're experiencing not only a turning back to what has been hidden for so long in favor of the madness of Literalist religion, but a turning towards a new world of Consciousness that might bring us through these dark days of Bush and his insane belief that the world ends soon, and he might as well be the one to end it. (I've always thought of the Catholic Church as the antiChrist insofar as they are anti-Gnosis, which _is_ The Christ. But now I just wonder if Bush isn't our boy.) If you're looking for Christ, as He always hoped you would, look inside. Christ is in you. Gnosis is not a teaching, but an experience of Christ Consciousness. In the East, you would call it the GodHead or Buddha. It's the same experience. Reading the books I've mentioned here will get you started looking. The rest is up to you.
