Been wanting this material for nearly 20 years and in this form it is the more easily picked up and put down as time allows. Excellent edition and extremely well-packed.

When the Bible was rewritten in approximately 200 B.C., certain books were eliminated and supposidly destroyed. These were the lost chapters or the Gnostics. At the same time with delivery of this book, I received a catalog from The Great Courses. They had one item which questions: were the scriptures rewritten by creative writers. Ralph Waldo Emerson spoke out against religion as he saw it at that time, stating that it keeps all men and women in slavery. There are some of us who, thinking outside the box, are always seeking the truth. Whether this book will answer all of your questions remains to be seen, but it opens the reader to new and more provocative questions.
It is, unfortunately, a difficult read.

The book contains the "lost"parts of the new testament that were in it until 325AD. Some of these works are fascinating in their clarity. The Gospel of Thomas on Jesus' sayings is the best review of the 4 main gospels you'll ever get. Gospel of Mary Magdalene reveals that she was not a prostitute and that she was very close disciple to CHRIST. All of the books demonstrate hidden knowledge that got them banned as heritical in the late 2nd century. (Somebody's religious ox got gored). Read today, they fill in many of the missing parts of the New Testament. These don't have to be constructed as scripture but they sure strenghten the scriptures. It's a well worthwhile read for anyone who thinks they know the New Testament.

I bought this for my son for Christmas, and he loves the feel of the little book. The subject matter seems to be straightforward and clear, although I have only skimmed it. Some books are a tactile treat as well as an intellectual one.

The physical structure of the volume is ideal for reading, and the size of the print is proper for scholarship.

The book was received in a timely fashion and was in like new condition. I can't think of a better way to buy books than Amazon.com.

Filled with misquotes of Jesus, numerous contradictions, lame sentimentality, and stupid pagan nonsense. The last work,"The Gospel of Judas," is, without a doubt, the work of a lunatic.

These writings must have been written to make Christianity look stupid.
