5.0 out of 5 stars This film will stay with me for the rest of my life., June 13, 1999
By A Customer
I am a 13-year old. I read the book "Go Ask Alice" and I loved it. I rented the movie, and loved it. I am learning about drug abuse now so I wont make the same mistakes Alice made. This is definitely my favorite book, because it it so honest and realistic. I feel like Alice in some ways. I feel like I am all alone sometimes, and I get angry and frustrated and upset over the littlest things. What can I say, I'm normal. So I give this movie a 5 because it is the only film out there that is real. It is based on an actual girl's life, and that's what I like about it so much.

3.0 out of 5 stars A polished, "seventies-safe" version of the book, October 14, 1999
I have read the book and seen the movie several times [I have it on VHS]. The book was incredible! I read in 2 days; it was hard to put down. The movie was typical of many movies made in the early 70's --censorship was big then. The movie didn't address/portray all the real stuff going on in the book. The book was the closest representation of what really happened in life. The movie was far from the book; since it was made for television, it had to be made "sterile " and "safe". I loved the movie because I love most 60's and 70's movies--but it needed to be closer to the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cult Classic, December 7, 2000
I searched for this movie for several years. The diary of "Alice" takes you with Alice as she transforms from a young innocent girl who gets "triped" into a life style of addiction. Brings you back in the time of early hallucinogenic experimentation with 60's culture and music. It's like the Brady bunch on acid. Casting includes William Shatner as her nerd Dad. Andy Griffith as a priest. McKinsey Phillips as a young hooker. Go Ask Alice is my favorite Cult Classic of all time! Ranks up there with The Wall, Clockwork Orange, and Fear and Loathing of Las Vegas.
