*I recieved this title free from the Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for an honest review. Which is good since I can't do a dishonest book review to save my soul =) *

The key part of the book's synopsis is this: "Written by one of the dudes himself, Go Big tells their story and unveils their secret: five practical principles for taking your passions, skills, and dreams to the next level"

That is exactly it. The author shares his experience and breaks it down into 5 sections of advice about starting a business.

Go Big is a bit of a quirky "How to start a business" book, written by a guy whose business is trick basketball shots, his perspective is geared toward his experience so it defenitely isn't a guide for the average small business. The best thing about the book, in my opinion, is the "voice" of the author that shows through. So many nonfiction books are either dry, flowery or just plain bad writing so that you get a few chapters in and need a break from the 'drone tone'. This book is the opposite, you feel like you are reading a story with some helpful hints in it. Its an easy and relateable kind of advice book.

This book was not as interesting as I initially imagined it would be. Basically the idea is to focus on your dreams, no matter how big they are, and stick to them. While I agree with the idea, I don't think they needed to write an entire book about it. Feel free to try it out and see if you like it better than I did!

I received this exciting and well written book from Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for an impartial review. When I opened the box and looked at the cover, my instinct was to say: "Oh, it's a kid's book", and "it's all about sports, looks like basketball". Wonderful! I know basically nothing about sports, and definitely nothing about basketball. What do I do now for my review?? I quickly flipped through the pages and saw pictures of guys throwing basketballs outside, inside, and upside down!

I eventually pulled back from my initial reaction and gave the book another check. And am I ever glad that I did! This book is all the things I mentioned above - but it is SO much more. What started as six university guys throwing basketballs in the backyard of their house, and challenging each other to "go forward"; as well as a few dares: "You'll never make this shot", has now turned into a strong motivational force with a web page, an on-line game app, group presentations, and of course, this book. In this social media world the "Go Big" Philosophy has reached to faraway places, and impacted many lives. And all this has happened in the last two years.

Although this book is written by just one of the "Go Big" guys, it is really a compilation of all their efforts to reach their highest goals. Over time the original six became five, as one member decided to follow another dream - a dream well understood and accepted by the team. Throughout the book we are introduced to all members of DudePerfect.com. We get to know each individual and what they bring to the team. For me, one of the brightest lights in this book is how the group shines as a team, how they work together and grow even stronger.

This new work is published by Tyndale House Publishers and it is far from your typical self-help, make good type of book.

Author Cory Cotton shares that "the book you're holding is for people who want to go big... period.... This book is for those who want to pursue excellence, who want to blow it out of the water and chase down their dreams. This book is for those that want to go big- and who refuse to apologize for it."

When I read that I was taken thirty years to a business author I came to admire and enjoyed reading called Tom Peters. His breakthrough book was "In Search of Excellence" and in it he highlighted a number of companies that excelled at what they did because of what and how they did it.

Corry and the boys at Dude Perfect seem to have this same type of spirit about them except they are the ones pursuing their dream and they have succeeded in the new connected world by pursuing their passion and sharing it on YouTube.

In a nutshell these "dudes" have built a business around making seemingly impossible trick basketball shots. Out of their experiences they have developed the "Go Big Philosophy."

The book is filled with many well tried and proven clichés such as "Pay attention to your passions" but Cotton brings a new and fresh approach to the field of business self-help. They are also young- did I mention that. A quick look at the back cover of the book shows how young they are and a visit to their YouTube channel confirms that I likely have suits that are older than these guys.

As an old guy exploring the new world of the internet through my blog, I found this book a helpful "energy drink".

This is an easy and enjoyable read for both me and my 11 year old son. He and I both LOVE their awesome trick shot videos! We have been fortunate enough to meet these guys in person and I can tell you they are the BEST. They make my son feel like he is a KING when he's with them. Great job, Dude Perfect!
