Usually you don't think "fun" when you think of today's Hip Hop artist. You think overt sexual references, anti-establishment remarks, race, gangs wars, drugs and the like. Not so with most of what Kazzer produces on Go For Broke. The first track I heard was Pedal to the Metal from the movie "The Italian Job" and I thought it was a fun and catchy tune. When I got the album I was blown away by the highly unique interpolation of Rock & Hip Hop. Kazzer breaks new ground taking strings of lyrics and jamming them together with some pretty interesting and unique phrasing techniques. There's a lot of bass "thump" and some grinding guitar to go with his sometimes simple lyrical themes.

Listening to the message Kazzer puts out there, I am not too surprised that he has not see a lot of mainstrean promotion. He routinely bashes promoters and mainstream radio with lines like, "I'm never lettin' up fed up with what I'm hearing nowadays on radio waves". He furthers his message with lines like, "critics want to tell me that I'm causin' too many crossovers with the genres that I'm choosin' abusin' the system of creativity but rules are meant to be broken". And breaking the rules seems to be a theme here. There's only a brief smattering of profanity (placed for effect and not shock value).

Most of the tracks are hard pounding-your-fist-on-the-dashboard rock and tight prose. Even the softer, When it Rains it Pours, has a savvy blend of acoustic guitar, rap, and melodic lyric lines that seemingly run together, "notgonnabotherwithitnowcausei'vebeentherebefore".

So pop in the CD. Best tracks are Pedal to the Metal, Throwing it Down, When It Rains It Pours, You Don't Know, and Growing Up in the Eighties.

I bought this album because the remade film of the "The Italian Job" has no soundtrack. I am however thoroughly pleased with this album. There are a great variety of fun/angry moods to take you.
