Carl Perkins - Go Cat Go, January 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Go Cat Go (Audio CD)
This is my new favorite CD. Track 4, Distance Makes No Difference With Love, sung with George Harrison's perfect harmony and his excellent slide guitar is the reason I purchased this CD. The songs on this recording are fun, fast and they really get you moving. You can feel that everyone involved was having a great time playing with Carl. Other performers on this CD are: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Johnny Cash, Bono, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Fogerty and Paul Simon. The louder you play this CD the better. Enjoy! (Remember George Harrison).

Timeless! A romp through music history, July 2, 2009
This review is from: Go Cat Go (Audio CD)
Highly recommended; very enjoyable; great for sharing. I'm not crazy about rockabilly or country music, but when the Beatles (especially George Harrison) sang their praises (literally) about Carl Perkins' influence on their music, it made me open my musical ears. I found this while browsing at the now closed CD Warehouse. My favorites are #5 - Give Me Back My Job (with Perkins, Bono, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Tom Petty) from 1996-- but still relevant today. A fun song is #3 Rockabilly Music (with Paul Simon) - a look at what "touring" was like back in the 50s and 60s. It was hard work -- sometimes lousy food and worse hotel rooms and you might not get paid at all; no wonder the goal was to make that hit record and get off the road -- or get your own luxury tour bus! George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr each got to sing with their musical hero. Man, who could ask for anything more? Perkins could have been as famous as Elvis, but a bad auto accident and the release of Elvis' version of Perkins' composition Blue Suede Shoes before his record relegated Perkins to the musical sideline. But look at what he received instead: a stable, long-lasting family life, the respect and friendship of other musicians who delighted in his company and his work, and audiences who enjoyed having him around!
