Carl Perkins - Go Cat Go,
By A Customer
This review is from: Go Cat Go (Audio CD)
This is my new favorite CD. Track 4, Distance Makes No Difference With Love, sung with George Harrison's perfect harmony and his excellent slide guitar is the reason I purchased this CD. The songs on this recording are fun, fast and they really get you moving. You can feel that everyone involved was having a great time playing with Carl. Other performers on this CD are: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Johnny Cash, Bono, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Fogerty and Paul Simon. The louder you play this CD the better. Enjoy! (Remember George Harrison).

Timeless! A romp through music history,

Highly recommended; very enjoyable; great for sharing. I'm not crazy about rockabilly or country music, but when the Beatles (especially George Harrison) sang their praises (literally) about Carl Perkins' influence on their music, it made me open my musical ears. I found this while browsing at the now closed CD Warehouse. My favorites are #5 - Give Me Back My Job (with Perkins, Bono, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Tom Petty) from 1996-- but still relevant today. A fun song is #3 Rockabilly Music (with Paul Simon) - a look at what "touring" was like back in the 50s and 60s. It was hard work -- sometimes lousy food and worse hotel rooms and you might not get paid at all; no wonder the goal was to make that hit record and get off the road -- or get your own luxury tour bus! George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr each got to sing with their musical hero. Man, who could ask for anything more? Perkins could have been as famous as Elvis, but a bad auto accident and the release of Elvis' version of Perkins' composition Blue Suede Shoes before his record relegated Perkins to the musical sideline. But look at what he received instead: a stable, long-lasting family life, the respect and friendship of other musicians who delighted in his company and his work, and audiences who enjoyed having him around!

Simply great music. Mr. CP with both dead and living friends goes back to what it's all about - the joy of the music! All the tracks are great and the reason for the 4 stars instead of five is simply that my CD lacks the last number (17) with John Lennon. If the lacking number is as good as the 16 tracks that I've got this is a clear 5-star quality album. It can be heard again and again - and still You will find new joys in Your listening. If You enjoy such stars and bands as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, George Harrison, Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr and Paul Simon You must have this cd.

This is a highly underrated and very reasonably priced collection. For any Perkins fan, it's a must have. The variety of duets is highly entertaining. Paul Simon, all of the Beatles (separately), Tom Petty, along with his buddies Willie Nelson & Johnny Cash plus more. Grab it while you can...it's a hidden treasure. Also highly recommended is the Sun compilation "Good Rockin' Tonight" The Legacy of Sun Records.

This is a great collaboration of artistes. I didn't know much of Carl Perkins music, so this was my introduction. I had a copy and liked it so much I had to replace it. His work with the other artists (John Fogerty, Paul Simon, Ringo, Bono, Tom Pety, Paul McCartney. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Harrison) is wonderful. One song (Give Me Back My Job) has Willie, Bono, Johnny, & Tom on it, and it works well.
Love this CD

What a Find!,

What a fun CD!! I happened upon it by accident looking for Tom Petty stuff and now it is like one of my favorite CDs.
So much more than I expected- it's like you almost can't believe all the great artists he has collaborated with- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Johnny Cash, Bono, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Ringo, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson- Wow, this dude knows everyone :) He can rockabilly alright, these songs will get your toes tapping and buns wiggling in your seat! The slower songs like "Quarter Horse" are wonderful too. I dare you NOT to be a Carl Perkins fan after listening to this awesome CD. Review by D Distante-Cromwell (CA)

This is a nice collection; country with Cash and Willie, others with Hendirx, Lennon, Petty, John Fogerty; it is amazing how well he meshes with all those artists.

I have listened to the CD of Go Cat Go, and my only complaint is, where is track 17, of John Lennon singing Blue Suede SHoes? That said, the CD is nevertheless as important as Frank Sinatra's Duets and Duets 2 LPs.
That Carl Perkins was a pioneer of Rock n Roll is well known. That all these musicians appreciated it is NOT so well known. Outstanding amongst these tracks is 'Distance Makes No Difference With Love." Accompanying Perkins is George Harrison. His slide guitar and harmonizing combine for a lovely song, and how this never made it to a 45 is a troubling question. The love these two had for each other pours out of this song like honey. Just for this song being included, is reason enough to buy this CD!
