NOT Worth Your $30!,

This review is from: Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue (Video Game)
From the book of lazy game design is Go Diego Go! Great Dinosaur Rescue. Its a mini game collection that is almost the same as the previous game, but with dinosaurs instead of safari animals. The game requires you to speak into the microphone frequently, shouting a word or phrase in Spanish usually two or three times and these short diversions count towards the title's mini game count. Riding on the back of a critter and moving either up or down to avoid debris is BACK. "Finding a critter through the camera" is BACK, only this time its dinosaurs.
The graphics are minimal, there are no video clips, only still images from the "extended episode" of the tv show that is the game's theme. The most annoying thing is the pop up still image advertising the Dinosaur Rescue and Nickelodeon after EVERY SINGLE MINI GAME. Its just advertisement and completely unnecessary. My four year old enjoyed the game, and was excited over the dinosaur theme, but she finished it by herself without even asking for assistance in under 30 minutes. She has played it a few times since but gets bored quickly. It's too similar to the other Diego game and doesn't offer long enough activities to keep her interested. Only for the most loyal little Diego fans. Anyone over the age of 4 is going to bored to death of this and how little content is put on the cartridge. This is a review of the Nintendo DS version of Diego Great Dinosaur Rescue.

My 4-yr-old likes playing the DS and this game has increased her likeness. This game is understandable for her to follow along without my help. She quickly grasped the ins and outs of the menu and game options. She likes the characters in the game and its ease of use keep her attention. A perfect addition to her DS games collection.

I would strongly recommend that you NOT buy this game new. We bought this game for our 5 year old son for Christmas hoping that it would be easy enough for him to play without a lot of assistance (I think we paid about $17 for it used). There is no reading involved....which is great. But he completed the whole game in about 20 minutes (including the mini games)! The game is very much like the TV show.......Examples: You are shown an animal track and then given 3 three trails to follow.....you must choose which trail matches the original tracks you were shown. In another part of the game...you have to use the stylus to drag the dino babies back to their nest. Sometimes you will have to yell into the microphone to get your backpack's attention if you need something inside it. Most of the mini-games center around matching things....for example, you will be given a museum dinosaur and you have to match the fossils where they should go to build the exhibit.
I think a 3-4 year old who wants to learn to play games on their own (without getting frustrated) would probably enjoy this game. Our 5 year old tends to be impatient and complains (EXCESSIVELY) when things are too hard....and for HIM, This game was just too easy and WAY too short. So that says a lot right there. For $17....this game should have been MUCH longer!!!!! I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it.

I bought this game for my son who is dinosaur maven. He liked playing diego dinosaur games, it is good game for 3 - 6 year old. The only complain I would have is, that it does not engage him for long. It is very basic and a child gets bored in short while.

I have a 3yr old and this is his favorite game! It is easy for him to use and fun for him to play without any assistance from me! I want more games like this for him to be able to enjoy! It lets him color and put together a puzzle and a dinosaur! if you have a small child this is the game for them

I just got a new Nintendo DSi and gave my Lite to my son who will turn 4 in a month. We wanted to find a game that he could do with minimal help. We found this game and he loves it. He's already gone through it all the way quite a few times but doesn't seem to mind. He needs help occasionally which has more to do with the touch screen not being as good as it once was and less with the game itself. He especially likes building the dinosaur fossil exhibits. There is a rescue game with a bunch of little activities like puzzles and yelling a word and taking pictures. There is also a game where they put a dinosaur fossil together, draw pictures, and a memory game. Its definitely not for older kids. I think his age is perfect 3-5 or so.

My 3 year old son has a nintendo ds. We bought him this game because there isn't many games for him to understand yet. He loves it. We showed him what to do and in no time he got it. We also bought the Wonder Pets game and he does well.

We bought this for a plane ride for our son who's almost 5. He started playing this and literally beat the game and the credits for the game started scrolling even before we got on the plane. I think this game occupied him an entire thirty minutes tops. Because he's already done everything in the game, he no longer wants to play it. Perhaps this game is great for a 3 or 4 year old but if they are any older they may get bored very quickly.

Bought this game for my 3 year old. He's been playing with it for about 2 weeks, usually on our 40 minutes commute to NYC everyday. The game is relatively easy for him to learn, although some games are overly simple for a preschooler. I noticed that it holds less of his attention now. But that's true with any toy for a child.

Bought this for my 4 1/2 yr old son because he loves dinosaurs. He has really enjoyed the game but beat it within about 1 hr of opening it. I think it would be good for very young kids but not sure that I think it's worth the money for us as it just seemed too easy for my son.
